The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has upgraded the Doherty challenge to U.S. Rep Michael McCaul, R-Austin to a more competitive status. The campaign arm, operated out of D.C., is going to give Doherty more financial and strategic support as part of its "Red to Blue" program.

"Larry Joe Doherty, the Democratic nominee for U.S. Congress in Texas' 10th Congressional District, has taken what was believed to be a non-competitive district and, through the strength of his campaign, is now in position to win on November 4th," wrote Doherty spokesman Jon Niven.
