The Williamson County Republican Party is among the first to use the John Edwards affair and its fallout against Texas Democratic candidates. Fred Baron, the largest Democratic donor in Texas, admitted last week to making payments to John Edwards' mistress for the past year or so. He said he used his own money, not campaign funds. Now one Texas beneficiary of Baron's cash is being called out. The Willco Republicans want House District 52 candidate Diana Maldonado to return $25,000 she received from Annie's List - a Texas PAC that helps elect progressive women. Annie's List received that same amount from Baron earlier this year. "This toxic money that was laundered and paid to Maldonado is a dirty down payment on corrupt and immoral behavior," said Bill Fairbrother, Williamson County Republican Party Chairman. "Imagine the message this 'hush money' sends to our children. It says that if you make a mistake you do not have take responsibility for your actions." "It is time for Maldonado to take responsibility and reject this contribution. If she fails to reject this contribution she is aiding and abetting this corrupt behavior." 9 CommentsLeave a comment |

wow. What a stretch.
Looks like the republican party is the only party running a candidate for president that has had extra maritial affairs while his wife was sick.
Many family values.
Fairbrother's claim is more than a stretch. It is not even logical. Maybe we could follow this logic if the mistress was Maldonado. This is sooo bad. Then, Fairbrother attempts to rally support of his farfetched line of thinking by using our kids. LEAVE OUR KIDS OUT OF IT. So Fairbrother, the message you just sent is that you have a loose screw.
The Williamson County Republicans are grasping for straws. The Democrats in Williamson County are growing. We can thank people like Fairbrother and all his cronies for this. People in Williamson are getting FED UP.
FED UP is putting it lightly! How could you possibly link Diana Maldonado with Fred Baron? Should Annie's List do a moral audit of everyone that gives them money? Does Bill Fairbrother think the people of Williamson County are stupid? We are smart and know when we go to the polls in Nov. we are voting DIANA MALDONADO!
People in Williamson County are fed up and will show up in great numbers to get rid of the courthouse gang. Diana Maldonado has a spotless record. She has worked endless hours for Round Rock. This women is going to work hard for the people of Williamson County. I find Bill Fairbrothers's statments to be amusing. I would highly advise counceling! I hear it can do wonders for people that have a hard time grasping reality!
Maldonado Spotless? Apparently you know nothing about the floundering school board. Under Maldonado the ISD has had to beg the TEA for waivers so that they would not be rated academically unacceptable, administrative salaries average 86k, they can't meet the TEA requirement that 65% of funds go to classroom instruction, and while ISD revenues have increased over 70%, and student population only 30%, they just don't have enough money. This is the kind of leadership we want in the State House?
Actually I know a lot about the floundering School system. I know the public school system is a mess and does not work. I also know Diana Maldonado did not sit on the board alone. I also know the board is bound by many state laws that need to be changed. I also know the Republicans have ran Round Rock and Williamson County for many years and have done nothing to correct the floundering school system. Public Relations is their game! TIME FOR CHANGE!
Let's see, the RRISD is one of the only govt. entities in Williamson County run by Democrats, but somehow it's the Republicans' fault that the ISD is a disaster? You're right, it's time for change, BIG change on the RRISD Board. How about if we actually elect some school board members instead of just appointing them.
RRISD is not run by Democrats! Isn't it time we vote person not party? Isn't it time we look at the problems and deal with them instead of blaming a political party. I am a moderate and I simply want honest open government! We need CHANGE and Diana Maldonado has the experience and leadership skills to create that CHANGE! I think the desperate measures the Chamber of Commerce of Round Rock took to do a back door endorsement of Bryan Daniels should be enough to make people ask WHY? When measures as unprofessional as the Chamber doing a back door endorsement are taken RUN, RUN, RUN!
Wow, thanks for turning on the lights "Elise Hu".
Some how I missed this little cash donation, what ever happened to personal privacy, standing for ones country, then for your state and then your community.
I did a little web searching about the Lady mentioned and it sounds like she blends the white paint with the black paint and compromises more by adding another “compromise” to that and then another. When she is done, your way over on the left and the paint is battleship gray.
If one constantly compromises, when do you stand and not give up “one value?”
This is not to knock her accomplishments, all do respect and thanks, I still have not seen a web page saying in plain English what she is for!!!
Examples;
Sizes of Gov.?
My church operated and educates on 10%.
Abortion w/ or w/o limits?
It should be limited to abuse and health concerns.
Toll-road?
The uses of Hi-Capacity-use lanes or left-lane straight thru lanes like the one suggested for IH-35, to let thru traffic go thru RR and Austin and not interfere with local and on-off traffic. !! Look to Seattle, WA, they have it right in combining different lane restriction for different road situations.
I have trying to stay up on things for the last 6 months, I’ll do one-more deep search of the facts before voting next week in early elections.
My thanks for everyone’s positive input,
just me
