Watson, Van de Putte Joining Forces
Texas State Senators Kirk Watson, D-Austin, and Leticia Van de Putte, D-San Antonio have been nominated by TDP Chair Boyd Richie to chair and vice chair the state Democratic convention in June. The State Democratic Executive Committee must approve this recommendation first. Van De Putte is a big Clinton supporter, Watson backs Obama. They will likely join forces for one of the biggest state conventions yet.
"I'm confident both Senators Watson and Van de Putte will serve in these important roles with the character, quality and fairness they have exhibited throughout their careers as we work to leave the State Convention as a united party moving toward victory in November," Richie said in a statement.
