ABC Backlash Spills Onto Us

KVUE is an ABC affiliate. As you might know, ABC hosted a high-rated presidential debate Wednesday night. The first hour of the debate featured no issues; rather, questions about candidate gaffes and associates and other assorted campaign back-and-forths.

It's resulted in a pretty big backlash --an online petition and a call for a boycott of ABC, and some emails like this to me: abcdisgust.jpg

I am a 58 year old Vietnam Vet and I have been a dedicated watcher of ABC/KVUE News for a long time. As much as I love Christine, Tyler and especially Quita Culpepper, I will have to boycott your station for a long long time. You should be ashamed of ABC. I am. ABC had an opportunity to do something really important. Instead you acted as Republican hacks. The off-topic questions George S. and Charles Gibson asked were ridiculous. What about the economy, the war, the politicalization of the justice department and a hundred other issues?
Sigh. We don't have anything to do with what ABC anchors ask in debates, so I hope that any boycotters only boycott ABC News, and not the local news. But I realize we are an ABC affiliate. Sigh.

That was not a debate, it was a bum rush. Shame on Gibson and George S.

I don't know what happened to Gibson and George I respected both of them before even tough I think they are like all the other MSM are less and less reporting the Facts and going for entertainments.
Talking about elite and out of touch, do they drive ? do they fill up the Gas or somebody else does for them ? do they go to the store to buy groceries ?

Does this mean that "ABC" stands for "all 'bout Clinton?"

These debates should be viewed as an opportunity to watch how candidates handle themselves unscripted and under stress. A debate moderator is not doing his/her job if the questions focus solely on health care policy. Anyone can memorize and defend a health care policy. What people want to know is how they react to unexpected adversity.
The Gibson/Stuffing questions did the job. They produced petulance from Obama, and the usual brittleness from Hillary. Elise, you're a member of the ABC team. Defend your team.

Was that supposed to be an apology? "Sigh?!!!" That's all you can say as the political correspondent is "SIGH"?!!

Well I suppose that just feeds into everyone's point. ABC and now it's affiliates are too fixated with ratings and reality TV to be overly concerned about our government or political discourse.

Shame on you KVUE.

Keep your chin up, Elise.
Don't let the vehemence of some commenters get you down.
It was just a matter of time before someone asked Obama some difficult questions. Better now than in the general election.

You guys should be sending this stuff uphill, though, as much as possible.
