Will the Texas Primacaucus be a Cluster?
Unprecedented turnout is expected for the Texas Democratic primary on March 4th, and the state's complicated primary/caucus hybrid could make election night a cluster. Chillax, says the state party.
Party chairman (and unpledged superdelegate) Boyd Richie will meet the press Friday morning to discuss "the steps the Texas Democratic Party is taking to prepare for this historic turnout".
Speaking of superdelegates, Gardner Selby at the Statesman put together a list of Texas superdelegates and who they are backing, so far. It looks like there are 16 unpledged Texas superdelegates left, but superdelegates can always change their allegiances. The Unpledged:
Robert Martinez
Boyd Richie
Chet Edwards
Nick Lampson
Ciro Rodriguez
Lloyd Doggett
Yvonne Davis
Al Edwards
Jaime Gonzalez Jr.
John Patrick
Betty Richie
Bob Slagle
Bob Strauss
Linda Chavez-Thompson
Roy LaVerne Brooks
Davis Hardt Young
Here's a handy list of each state's Democratic superdelegates.
Comments
I'm not sure what's involved with officially "pledging" (do you sign a card or something?) or how Gardner got his list, but I'm pretty sure I heard that Bob Slagle was doing robocalls for the Clinton campaign. That sounds like he's picked a candidate.
