Debate Ticket Winners Get Their Notices

One of the 100 winners of the public drawing for debate tickets is a woman named Cordera, who was kind enough to share her winning notification with me. In an emailed letter from TDP Chairman Boyd Richie, she is given instructions about RSVPing and details about taking her seat Thursday night.

Winners notified today have until 2pm tomorrow to RSVP. If they do not do so in time, then that spot is given to "another Democrat". There are also no actual tickets to hold in your hand. The winners just get their names added to a master list of people allowed into the debate hall. Which makes the "tickets" non transferable.

See the letter after the jump. Oh yeah, Richie says no weapons are allowed.

    Dear Cordera,

I am delighted to inform you that you have been selected to come to this Thursday's debate between Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton and Senator Barack Obama, to be held at the Recreational Sports Center, on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin. More than 43,000 people applied for seats at the debate. The TDP was able to secure an additional allotment of tickets, and we are extremely pleased to be able to offer you a place at this historic debate.

Because of the limited time available before the debate, it is important that you RSVP quickly, so that we know you will be able to take your seat on Thursday evening. A TDP staffer will be calling you soon. If we miss you or you do not receive a call, please call the Party and RSVP at (512) 478-9800 (ask to speak to Abbie or Sarah). If we do not get in touch with you before 2pm on Wednesday, your place will be given to another Democrat.

Please note that there are no physical tickets to the debate--your name will be added to a master list of debate attendees. Being selected entitles you to one seat only at the debate, and your seat is not transferable. If you have any questions, please contact the TDP.

The address of the Recreational Sports Center is 2100 San Jacinto Drive, at the corner of East 20th Street on the campus of the University of Texas. There will be two garages available on campus near the Rec: the Trinity garage, located at the corner of Trinity Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, and the Maynard garage at the corner of Clyde Littlefield St and Robert Dedman Street.

Doors to the debate hall will open at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, and debate attendees must be in their seats by 6:00 p.m. CST, when the doors will close. Upon arrival at the Recreational Center, debate attendees will be required to show a picture ID and be checked against the master list for admission into the hall. All debate attendees must pass through a check-in process and security magnetometers to enter the arena and should schedule their arrivals accordingly.

Once inside you will be met by ushers who will assist you in finding your seat. After entry into the arena, we ask that you remain in the debate hall for the duration of the debate. No weapons, cameras, cell phones, umbrellas, blackberries/PDAs or other recording devices will be allowed in the hall, nor will campaign signs, buttons, t-shirts, hats or other campaign paraphernalia. Attendees with any of these items in their possession will be asked to take them back to their cars. No admittance will be allowed until the items are removed.

Congratulations on being selected to be a part of one of the most important moments of the 2008 presidential campaign. I look forward to seeing you at the debate.

    Your friend and fellow Democrat,
    Boyd
    Boyd L. Richie
    Chairman
