Clinton Texas Campaign Response Time Tracker

Since the arrival of the competing presidential campaigns, I have had a difficult time getting a hold of the Clinton campaign's Texas press contact, Adrienne. It's rather difficult to include the Clinton campaign in stories when we cannot connect. For example...

-- A February 8th email to establish first contact went unreturned.
-- A call and voicemail message on February 13th regarding office openings went unreturned.

This morning, I called for a response on the House Democratic Caucus leaders taking issue with Clinton's comments about Texas not being in her "electoral calculation" in November. Adrienne responded with, "Oh, Lord," and said she would call back once she found out more about the dust-up, and I never heard from her again.

I called again this afternoon to try to connect, but got a voicemail greeting.

I hear anecdotally from my press corps brethren that I'm not the only one having problems with this. So I'm starting the unofficial "Clinton Texas Campaign Response Time Tracker", to track future attempts at making contact and the time it takes to hear back. Time is obviously pretty important to journalists, since our deadlines are often "right now".

I'm not going to go out of my way to call the campaign just for the sake of it. Instead, we will continue only reaching out to the campaign about legitimate questions in which we're seeking a response, and we'll track the response time with each attempt.

So the clock on a response to today's question started at 10:45am. It's now 11:10pm, so it has now been 12 hours, 25 minutes...

seems HCs campaign is two separate entities: the slick consultants who think they're above talking to the media; and the green staff who are in over their heads

Who are you that someone should feel they need to be interviewed?

Since Texas isn't part of HRC's electoral calculation, there's no need to respond to questions about Texas, eh? All of HRC's efforts are going into stealing the nomination via FL, MI, superdelegates, and pictures of African garb.

"Ready on day one"? HRC still isn't ready for this campaign. Obama's success is due to his being a better leader and better candidate.

So she states a fact about Texas saying that "it's usually not in the electoral calculation for the Democratic nominee." Then 3 Obama endorsers put words in her mouth and they are outraged, outraged I tell you, that Hillary has said she would ignore Texas (when in fact she has said no such thing).

And somehow the story is that Hillary is eeeevil (pinky in mouth) and not the real story, that these 3 pols are making stuff up and talking false offense about things SHE DIDN'T SAY.

Would you like a pillow Mr. Obama?

Ms. Hu is KVUE's *political reporter* attempting to contact the Clinton campaign's local spokesperson... In one of Sen. Clinton's own self-described must-win "firewall" states. And she can't get a return call. Do you not see the issue here, "brick," (as in dumb as a?).

CS Dem, quit worrying about Sen. Obama's possible need for a pillow, and go get yourself and her a crying towel. She's not ready to campaign in Texas on day 50 of primary season, but she wants to convince me she'll be ready for the presidency on "day one?"

It's time to "Get real."
