Clinton Comes Back, Thanks to New Hampshire
Hillary Clinton's the big (surprise) winner tonight. She's taking the stage now to a raucous crowd.
As she takes the stage, Tom Brokaw is saying that the press needs to temper its temptation to constantly try to get ahead of what voters are deciding, chiding us for overhyping poll results and exit polls. Reporting on polls is a touchy thing because it can have an effect on the race, it changes minds and affects perceptions.
"What we oughta do is invest in the American people and their wisdom," Brokaw said.
"I come tonight with a very, very full heart," Clinton says to begin her speech. She says NH helped her "find her own voice" -- she certainly did change up her strategy so she would come off less as an robot and more as a real person, agreeing to talk to reporters more, take more questions from voters, allowing for more unscripted moments.
Comments
Elise, you ought to do a post on the Brokaw comments to which you referred. He's describing the tip of a very big iceberg. His ideas deserve elaboration and comment.
Just as an example, will the media's spin now be "it's a two-person race between Clinton and Obama," and what effect will that have on Edwards and Richardson?
