Ron Paul Rejected
Governor Rick Perry stopped by Texas GOP headquarters this afternoon to formally file papers to get Rudy Giuliani on the Texas primary ballot. Afterwards, he quickly dismissed questions from several capitol reporters about Texas Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul.
Did you consider Ron Paul? Now that I think about it, at the beginning of his comments, Perry said this was the first time in a long time there wasn't a Texan running for president. Yikes. I mean, I know Ron Paul isn't his choice, but to exclude Paul from being a Texan seems kind of harsh.
No, I did not.
Why?
I just didn't. I didn't ever consider Ron Paul.
A few minutes later...
Why not Ron Paul?
You get to make choices in life, and I made a choice that Ron Paul is not mine for president. Pretty simple, for me. I didn't have to study that one too deep.
But the question is why, why you made it?
Well, I just made it.
Comments
Gov. Perry said the same thing in the video he sent up to the Texas Straw Poll--that there is no Texas candidate for President. Given Paul's exponentially growing grassroots support, I'd say that the governor is in a severe case of denial.
Wait until Dec. 16, the date of the next big fundraiser (and anniversary of the Boston Tea Party). I hope that you will come to the Austin Tea Party re-enactment being sponsored by the Austin Ron Paul Meetup Group

Perry is a tool, this much is not a state secret. I wouldn't expect a hack like him to have that kind of imagination.

No Texas running for President? Rick Perry is just another GOP establishment politican trying to stop Ron Paul.
Ron Paul can win. Read

Perry has a history of endorsing democrats when they run against Ron Paul.
Of course, Rick Perry republicans tax and spend like democrats.

Don't you understand that Gov Perry is a shill for the CFR globalists? Of course he's going to be against Ron Paul who is against everything he stands for!
Perry is the puppet of the Rockefellers...Ron Paul is not. Ron Paul is an honest man who won't have anything to do with the likes of the elitists and is working for the people.
WHEN ARE YOU REPORTERS GONNA FIGURE THIS OUT?

Rick,
I remember you at the border between Mexico and Texas. You promised to do something, and you did nothing. You will not acknoledge Ron Paul as a Texan?

Keep asking him questions Elise, he needs to know we are watching him as he sells us out to the highest bidder (big pharma, TTC, etc...).

Sorry, but Rick Who? Barry? Isn't he a former San Francisco basketball player? What's he doing in Texas, he's not a real Texan. Probably, seeing as how he's from San Francisco, he must be one of those new "compassionate conservative" type of liberal Republicans that've overtaken the party. No wonder he likes the Ghoulman. Did Barry walk in with a swagger & a cowboy hat on?

Wow. Do people in Texas actually LIKE Rick Perry? He sounds like he's totally bought and paid for. What a sad person.
Ron Paul will get the last laugh when he's sitting in the Oval Office and Rick Perry has to eat a big slice of humble pie.

Another sellout traitor comes out against Ron Paul? That's an endorsement in itself. I think he's just inspired me to double my Tea Party donation on Sunday.
Thanks, Rick!

I was there at the Texas Straw Poll when they played his video and he stated that sadly, no Texans were running for the white house. Let me tell you how he got a pretty solid boo from the audience. This man is garbage, pure and simple.

Rudy Guiliani's law firm is exclusively representing the Spanish company Cintra that is to finance, build, and lease the Trans Texas Corridor, now does it make sense that Perry would endorse him?

Rick Perry has sold his state out with international deals....
He should also be charged for violating the Logan Act when attending this years Bilderburg meeting. Even Texas papers reported on it.
Rick Perry is a traitor to our nation and he should be chaged for Treason...... The results of Treason are?

I love the comment, "When are you reporters going to figure this out?" And in capitals, no less!
Yes, let's not talk about ending the war, stopping torture, or restoring habeas corpus, things about Ron Paul which might actually appeal to an idealistic reporter.
Instead, let's throw out an acronym and imply that she's slow on the uptake for not instantly recognizing the sinister conspiracy hiding behind those three letters!
If there is a conspiracy to undermine Ron Paul in the eyes of the media, it couldn't do better than to hire people who post comments like that.

Rick Perry is traitor. He is deep in bed with special interests. He won't last long. The revolution will obliterate any vestiges of popularity he might have had.

Bushy isn't a Texan either Ricky baby. So what's your point?
Posted by: Carolyn | December 11, 2007 9:21 PM
It's natural for Perry to ignore Ron Paul. After all, the greatest of a fake conservative is a real, bona fide conservative. Perry's decision to enforce Soviet-style vaccination rules the same day he received a $5,000 bribe from big pharma show clearly which camp he belongs to.

The fact that Rick Perry had no substantial, reasoned, or intelligent answer as to why he wouldn't endorse Ron Paul only displays his own ignorance. I never voted for this man, and my best guess is that those who did couldn't tell us why either.

Just like everyother "new-age" Republican like him and Hannitty... the Iraq war is more important than core conservative values.

Rick Perry is going down, along with the rest of the morons currently in power.
Posted by: Dirk | December 11, 2007 10:27 PM
Perry will fade into history and Paul's message that liberty can be ours again will only continue to grow.
Run, Paul, Run!

Not suprised at Perry's transperancy - and yes, I proudly voted for Kinky Freidman in 2006.

I loath Rick Perry...He is the bain of all Texans.......I want to run him out of my state and back under that rock he crawled out of.
Posted by: Brandon McBride | December 11, 2007 10:50 PM
The people of this great state were stupid enough to put him back in office as did the nation with GW. What do you expect from the Tom Delay neo-cons?
I used to be proud to be from Texas, but now don't brag due to our idiotic politicians and voting majority.
Perry is a shame to this great state just as GW is a shame to the nation.
Bring back the US Constitution and vote for a real patriot. Vote for Ron Paul in the Primary.

wow Elise, you're a little hottie... :)
BTW- Rick Perry - or is it Steve Perry? - is a joke! I can't wait until the next election so we can get rid of him!
Go Ron Paul!

If Ron Paul is not a real Texan what is G.W Bush?????
Posted by: Phil | December 12, 2007 2:13 AM
He learned from King George. Both are selling out you much faster than you realize. Mitt, Rudy, and Hillary I can assure you will continue the same. I will give Obama the benefit of the doubt on being as driven to steal your money.
Ron Paul is the only CHOICE anyone has for President in 2008.

If you live in Texas are you allowed to recall your gov? If so when will such actions begin?
Posted by: Darel | December 12, 2007 5:57 AM
Actually, I think Kinky is the reason we have to deal with Perry as governor for another term. I think a majority wanted Perry out, but split between two candidates neither one was strong enough to take him out.
Still, I voted for him too. Wanted something different. Kinda like Ron Paul.

This coming from a shady Texan who is willing to sale out his state letting a Spanish company cut through the state collecting tolls, and he refuses to secure the border. Kinky is right "You can lead a politician to water but you can’t make him think".
Kinky for Governor
Ron Paul for President

It's no surprise that he makes these kind of comments. He is no more than a shill for big business with the hair of John Edwards. He's butting up against a term limit and he trying to get a job in the next administration. He hopes that this will endear him to whomever is the nominee. I hope it is Ron Paul and that the Reprobate Party takes a good old-fashioned butt-stomping in the next election for being such a bunch of sellouts. And this comes from a Texan far to the right side of the 'Pubs.

After watching the documentary Truth Be Tolled, I would argue that Gov. Perry is not a real Texan.
Posted by: Vince Bullinger | December 12, 2007 9:44 AM
Hmm! It really makes you wonder why a sitting Republican governor can't even consider a candidate that has won 10 terms as a congressman in Texas. It almost sounds like he has sold his soul to Ghouliani.

Ron Paul would have had Rick Perry arrested for violating the Logan Act when he attended the most recent Bilderberg meeting. He's a traiter. Look up the story of Rick Perry violating Logan Act. A very large protest was held outside the Capital Building in Austin Tx when Perry returned from this meeting. He was also a huger backer for NAFTA and the Super Highway conduit, and many Toll Roads being built through TX. Total corporatist shill.
