The Waiting Game

I'm starting to get a little nervous about my second season garden. The seedlings are growing, but they're so small and tiny, it seems like they'll never be big enough to transplant to the garden. The tomato seedlings are only about 2 inches tall right now.
They seem to be strong, and it looks like I'll have enough seedlings... the question is -- will I be able to plant them on time?

My books on gardening in Austin and Texas all say to get tomatoes in the ground from the middle of August to the end of the month. So I'm running out of time.
I'm not sure if the seedlings are growing at a good pace or if they should be larger.
I'm watering them regularly since the heat tends to dry out the little trays much more quickly now, but am I flushing all the nutrients out of their potting mix?
I'm tempted to give them some food, but before I do that, I'm going to head back to my books. I don't want to over-fertilize and have stressed out plants.
Ideally, they should be strong and healthy before I put them in the ground.
I did thin them out. if more than one seedling came up in a module, I carefully pulled out what looked like the weaker of the two. That way the strongest one didn't have to compete with other plants for nutrients.
So far so good... but still, this waiting game is hard!
