Hi everyone! It's been awhile since I've checked in here! Sorry, we were having some technical difficulties with the blog. I'm happy to report Peter is now 6.5 months old and has a tooth! My husband and I almost threw a party. What a relief to see those white spots. But, before we get too excited .. there's more on the way. He's not done yet. It seems as if he's been teething since we brought him home from the hospital. But, a few weeks ago my sheer frustration/determination paid off during our 6 month check-up at the doctor's office. I have been telling the doctor for months that I thought Peter had symptoms of something more than teething -- acid reflux. He was constantly screaming, refusing food, irritable and just plain fussy 24/7. The doctor had told me time and time again that it was just teething -- until this last visit. He was arching his back and screaming like a maniac through the whole appt. and I begged for some sample acid reflux medication and she finally gave in and said "let's give it a try". Guess what? 24 hours after that medication I had a happy JOYOUS baby. To this day we're still in shock over how good natured he really is even while teething!! We had no idea. That poor baby had a burning tummy for the last 6 months of his life and had no way to put out the fire. I feel just awful -- but elated that we finally realized what was really going on inside that little boy.
Sleeping has still been an issue. He still gets up a couple of times a night to eat but I'm trying to look past it until I know it's not teething pain. But, he's standing on his own and today he started to crawl! He took 6 steps all by himself! It would figure that he only crawls in an effort to reach the remote control. Dare I say ... typical guy??
He's starting early ... soon he'll be chanting "beer, beer, beer".
And so it begins...
Thanks for checking in.. and feel free to email me if you ever have any questions on infant acid reflux. I've done a lot of research on the issue lately and would be happy to exchange stories.
Have a great day!
Christine
