Cheney visits Coeur d'Alene

November 02, 2006

Vice President Dick Cheney is stopping into Coeur d'Alene, ID this evening to rally support for Republican candidates in Idaho. What do you think about his visit to North Idaho?

Mr. Cheney played to a safe pre-screended red state gathering this afternoon. He touted the Republican talking points to the letter. It was a safe speech to a safe crowd. Republicans and Democrats have made up their minds. Will this change minds of those on the fence? Perhaps a few, but Republicans have much more to account for in this election than they did 2002 and most of the fence sitters I've spoken too are jumping to the side of the Democrats.

Cheney's visit was the fire the GOP needed and his speech tonight was articulate and convincing to a moderate "fence sitter" like myself. He spoke on our booming, record setting economy, our record low unemployment, and spoke passionately about how there has not been a terrorist attack on American soil since 9/11. This country is in good shape and the Vice President reminded many of us of that this evening. I was undecided going into this speech but I have listened to the facts, and although the media conveniently forcasts doom and gloom and terrible things are, I, a lower-middle class citizen am much better off today then I was 6 years ago.
