Pumpkin flies 4,000 feet

2:42 PM Tue, Nov 03, 2009 |

MOAB, Utah (AP) -- Punkin chunkin just got a hunkin new record.

"Big 10 Inch Team" claims a new Guinness World Record for firing a pumpkin 4,623 feet. If verified, that beats the old mark by 132 feet. The Big 10 Inch Team brought their 90-foot pumpkin cannon from the East Coast to the thin mountain air of southern Utah for the record attempt. Team members say a blast of compressed air fired their pumpkin at more 700 miles per hour.
