I was driving home the other night and heard an interesting discussion on ESPN radio.
Could Adam Dunn be Hall Of Fame worthy?

My first reaction was to laugh out loud. So I decided to look up his stats.
Let's assume Dunn hits With 2 more home runs this year.
That would mean , Dunn has averaged more than 40 home runs, 100+ RBI, and 110 walks over the last 6 years. What if he keeps up that pace for 4 more years?

It is not far fetched. Dunn doesn't turn 30 until November. So he's in his prime.
That would give him 10 years of 40 homers, 100+ RBI's, 100+ walks, with a good on-base percentage.

Can you think of any other player who can match that 10 year stretch is not in the Hall Of Fame? Not Bonds. Not McGwire.

Now of course we have to take into acount he is a hack as a fielder. And over that same stretch he has struck out 1059 times for an average of 177 per season. Also, he's only been an All-Star once.

I'm not really saying Adam Dunn deserves to be in the Hall Of Fame. But if he keeps it up, his stats will give voters somthing to think about. And it's statistics like this, and the debate they evoke that help make baseball America's game.
