Mike Anderson leaving Mizzou?

10:44 AM Tue, Mar 31, 2009 |
Doug Vaughn

University of Missouri officials are faced with a difficult decision. Do they give Mike Anderson a blank check and let him decide how much money he wants, or do they let him leave for the University of Georgia? Anderson made $850,000 this year, and MU has reportedly offered him a new contract in the $1,300,00 a year range. That seems more than fair to me, especially considering Anderson still has two years left on his existing contract.

Rookies T.J. Oshie, David Perron and Patrick Berglund all tallied points Thursday night as the Blues won their third game in a row; beating Vancouver 4-2 at Scottrade Center. With the win, St. Louis is now one point out of the final playoff spot in the Western Conference, behind Nashville and Edmonton.

Oshie and Perron each had a goal and an assist. Berglund, who scored both of the Blues' goals in their 2-0 victory over the Kings Tue...

Chris Mason posted a 22-shot shutout and rookie center Patrick Berglund scored two goals on his only two shots as the Blues beat the Los Angeles Kings 2-0 Tuesday night.

The win puts St. Louis one point out of the final playoff spot, behind Anaheim and Nashville, with nine games remaining.

Coach Andy Murray said after the game that his team appeared to struggle offensively early on, but looked stronger in the third period. A...

Nighttime Fireworks Highlight Wrestling Finals

The 149-pound final Saturday night was supposed to be a landslide victory and the coronation of Iowa junior Brent Metcalf. But someone forgot to tell Dorrion Caldwell of North Carolina State. Metcalf toed the line at the Scottrade Center as the defending champ at the weight class and riding a 69 match winning streak. That came to a screeching halt against Caldwell.

In the opening moments of the match, Caldwell took down Metcalf, an...

Missouri did well in the wrestlebacks this morning. The Tigers, who had a school-high five grapplers earn All-American status, look to have a shot at finishing fifth in the team standings. Entering tonight they sit in the seventh slot.

Michael Chandler from Northwest High School finished fifth at 157. He defeated Matt Moley of Bloomsburg 2-1. Chandler, a senior, made a trip to the NCAA Championships all four years at Mizzou and wr...

NCAA Wrestling Day 2 (through Semi-final matches)

One out of three ain't bad.

Mizzou had a chance for three wrestlers to compete for a national championship Saturday at the Scottrade Center. Instead heavyweight Mark Ellis will be the lone cat aiming for #1. Ellis becomes the first heavyweight to gain All-American honors in the program's history. He is one of five Tigers to earn those honors in this weekend; a high mark for the Mizzou program.

174-pounder Raymond Jordan lost...

NCAA Wrestling Day 2 (through Quarterfinal matches)

At the completion of the quarterfinal round at the NCAA Wrestling Championships, both Mizzou and Illinois sit in the top-10 in the team standings; but the Tigers are in better shape.
They have three wrestlers still competing on the championship side of the bracket, Illinois only has one. Defending champ Iowa's chances of earning their 22nd national title is diminishing. The Hawkeyes look nothing like the team that dominated last year. ...

Spring Training blog: Dominicans visit Roger Dean Stadium

On Thursday the weather rebounded nicely. It was sunny skies and the temperature was back in the 70s. The Dominican National Team was in Jupiter for a tune up game with the Redbirds before the World Baseball Classic. Fans from all over were at Roger Dean Stadium to attend this game. Mets' fans were there to cheer for their star Jose Reyes. The Boston faithful were there to root for David "Pappi" Ortiz and catch a glimpse of former Boston ...

The Cardinals had no game today which I thought meant a day at the beach. The forecast called for mostly sunny skies with temperatures in the high 70s. Well, when I went outside this morning it was overcast, raining and the temperatures were in the 50s. The beach didn't happen. After shopping for souvenirs for my wife and kids I went back to the hotel to get a workout in. I walked into the exercise room, got on the elliptical and then re...

Spring Training blog: A trip to Port St. Lucie

Today I traveled to Port St. Lucie with my father Sam and brother Tim to watch the Cardinals play the Mets. The town is located 40 miles north of Jupiter straight up Highway 95. New York's home games are played at Tradition Field. It's a spacious, beautiful ballpark that seats more than 7,000 fans and like Roger Dean Stadium there's not a bad seat in the house. Two things that really stood out at this park were the food and the affordabili...

Spring Training blog: A day at Roger Dean Stadium

For a St. Louis Cardinal fan a game at Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter Florida is the ultimate baseball experience. This is the second year my father Sam, brother Tim and I have attended spring training in Jupiter during the Grapefruit season. For this past Sunday's game against the Florida Marlins we were lucky enough to have obtained the best seats in the house, first row from the field right behind manager Tony LaRussa and his coaching staf...
