December 2008 ArchivesIt seems that I am in the minority on this one but I think that all Cardinals fans who are in up in arms about the Cardinals A) Not having a closer, B) Not having another starter, C) Not having a second baseman not named Kennedy, D) Not spending enough money, need to settle down. We are still two months away from spring training and if you haven't been paying attention let me let you in on a little secret.....All Major League Baseba... The Missouri Tigers are going to their 4th straight bowl game, they won the Big XII North for the second straight year and they are on the verge of winning 10 games for the second straight year for the first time in school history. So everyone is happy in Boone County and beyond right? Wrong. The success that Missouri football has become has raised the bar and what happened this year is and has been a disappointment. This i... I think the Cardinals trade for Khalil Greene makes a lot of sense. While it's true that Greene had a miserable year in 2008 hitting just .213, and missed a couple of months after breaking his hand in a stupid temper tantrum, he's just the kind of guy the Cardinals have had success with in the past. I know the Cardinals didn't give up much (reportedly 2 minor-league pitchers) but paying $6.5 Million dollars this year to a shortstop who hit .213 last season with 10 HR and 35 RBI's does not seem like a good addition to this team. I know t... I don't blame the BCS for the mess the Big XII has gotten themselves into. The BCS is doing its job this year. It is setting up the SEC Champion to play the Big XII Champion for the National Championship. That is the correct finish. Both of those conferences have the best teams and their champions should be playing each other for the national title. Where it got all screwed up was because of the powers that be at the Big XII. ... This past weekend turned out pretty good for local prep football teams. East St. Louis looked like a college football team in high school clothes yet again. Despite committing a state record for penalties in a title game, they Cruised past Geneva for the Class 7A crown. It was the first Metro East school to win a championship since the Flyers did so in 1991. On the Missouri side, we saw two St. Louis schools win state championships ... |
