October 2008 ArchivesLast night Philadelphia removed all doubt that the cesspool of American Sports is Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. We should have known that it was going to be another classless showing by the Philadelphia sports fans but once again they had to prove they were number one in the country for being everything wrong with a sports fan in America. Lets begin with a little history lesson. This is the city that has a courtroom in the bottom of ... Missouri's 58-0 win over Colorado was an impressive, dominating performance over a Big 12 conference opponent. In years past, we would have jumped up and down and done cartwheels to see a Missouri team handle Colorado like that. Still, I find it hard to get excited about this win. I won't care much if they beat Baylor 100-0. This was suppose to be the year the Tigers had a realistic chance to win a national championship, and now they have almo... Since we are in the political season I have been looking to use the word referendum in one of these blogs and I think I have found the correct place for it. The Blues are playing a referendum game this Wednesday night. I think there are a lot of people out there right now who are really waiting to jump on the Blues bandwagon but just don't quite believe that the kids are that good yet. We are about to find out how good they are when they... It was easy to get caught up in Mizzou-mania. The Tigers were scoring half a hundred points in their early games of the season. We were all ready to hand Chase Daniel the Heisman Trophy, proclaim Gary Pinkel as the coach of the year, and prepare a national championship celebration. Wow, how things have changed in two weeks! In games against Oklahoma State and Texas the Tigers have been exposed as a team that can be over-powered at the line of ... Is there a chance the Rams can beat the Cowboys this weekend? One month ago I say no way but now on Wednesday I think there is a chance. Anytime a team loses their all-pro quarterback that is a big loss. Add into that losing a Pac-Man, losing a punter and a loss at Arizona. Then you throw the Rams coming off their first win, an impressive one, at Washington and I think there is a chance they can win this weekend. I wouldn't put it in... After the events that transpired down in Columbia this past weekend the Missouri Tigers football season is on the brink. All the hopes and dreams that the state had for a national championship now are about done. There is a chance but the margin for error is down to none. The only chance the Tigers have of winning the BCS Trophy is by running the table. To do that they have to start this weekend by going on the road and beating the #1... It is time to really reconsider how the playoffs are done in baseball. The season is 162 games long but we don't have enough time to have a 7 game series in the first round? That just doesn't make any sense to me. I don't believe the outcomes would have changed in any of the 2008 playoffs series but with the way baseball is built you shouldn't have just a 5 game series. It allows the "worst" team a much better chance of winning then if... Dear Missouri Tigers Fans, Please enjoy this football season. What is happening in Columbia this season is something that doesn't happen that often in sports. I have seen this only one other time in St. Louis sports history and that was the 1999 Rams. While those Rams came from nowhere to win the Super Bowl this Tigers team was expected to be good but they are beyond good. The Tigers are on that next level of being extraordinar... In a not-too-distant past, if you heard the Mizzou-Nebraska score was 52-17, most would assume the Tigers came up on the short end of that tally. But things have changed in Columbia, and winning against the Huskers could now become common-stance. Based on some of their "alleged" actions Saturday, don't think the Big Red will accept a subordinate role in this rivalry anytime soon. Nebraska committed 14 penalties in the game, includi... Well we can at least guarantee that the Rams won't lose this week. Of course because they don't play. As I look at the rest of the season if Jim Haslett can get this team to 5-11 then he should get the job. Their schedule is still brutal and doesn't get any easier over the next 3 weeks with a trip to Washington, home against the Cowboys and on the road at New England. The firing of Scott Linehan will do nothing in the short term but ho... |
