August 2008 ArchivesI am admittedly a BIG Missouri football fan. I am not one of these fair-weather fans that showed up in the past couple years. I have sat through Woody's Wagon. I have been there for Bob Stull. I have been around for the kicked ball against Nebraska and the 5th down. So I am elated that Missouri Football is so heavily reported on now and that they are in the top 10 in the country to start the season. That being said you can't erase ... Some countries have very positive views of Americans while others clearly do not. But there is a reason the term ugly American has come about. There are days in the TV business where you really don't have a lead story and things get boring. Then there are days like today where you not only have one lead story but you have multiple stories that on any particular day would be your lead. Unfortunately on those days you have to be cut the stories down to the bare minimum because of time constraints. Today was definitely one of those days. First, and the biggest story of the d... How did this happen? How in the world do the Cardinals lose to a pitcher who was 1-7 on the road with a road ERA of 7.83? How in the world do you lose to a team that is 21 games out of place? At your home park no less! How do you have a starting pitcher go 7 innings giving up one run and lose? How do you have a catcher go completely brain dead in the 9th inning? How does a team that is supposedly in a pennant race look so flat and dea... Today was D-Day over at Busch Stadium. Both Adam Wainwright and Chris Carpenter threw as they both attempt to get healthy and back onto the active roster. Adam Wainwirght told reporters immediately after his throwing session that he was ready to go and ready to come back as a starter. Chris Carpenter did not speak to the assembled reporters before tonight's game but did tell Post-Dispatch's Rick Hummel that he "felt good". What w... I have to be the first one to admit that I had absolutely zero interest in the Olympic Games three weeks ago. I knew a few of the stars but I only read up on it a little because of my job. To me the Olympics were something that used to be must see TV but lately had become stale and uninteresting. Not that it took Nostradamus to figure that one out. Wainwright was scheduled to pitch on Thursday in Memphis but word just came down from the Cardinals that he will now be pitching for Springfield on Saturday. The math says that it is 5 days between appearances which means they are getting him ready to be the starter. Now for the odd part of... Please allow me to play a game of connect the dots. None of this has been acknowledged or explained to me by anyone in the Cardinals organization but I am going to make some assumptions and take some guesses. Chris Carpenter was sent back to St. Louis for a meeting with the doctor tomorrow morning. Clearly to everyone that means that things are not as good as was hoped after the game last night in Chicago. It means at least a ... Breaking News on Chris Carpenter out of Florida. From several different outlets now the Cardinals are saying that instead of Carpenter throwing tomorrow he will be flying back to St. Louis to visit with Dr. George Paletta in the morning. This is obviously not a good sign at this point. With the history of the Cardinals and injuries with their pitchers this is definitely a huge concern to Cardinals fans everywhere. Tonight we watched Chris Carpenter pitching well and then all of a sudden Barry Weinberg and Tony La Russa are going to the mound to take him out due to an injury.
