The Rams season is DONE. Today's loss against the Cowboys without a doubt seals the deal on the season for the Rams and it is time to figure out how to first, not turn the season into a complete embarrassment and second find out who on this team should be here in 2008. The first thing that needs to happen is Marc Bulger needs to be shut down. The only way to fix broken ribs is through rest. Playing in the NFL week to week prohibits that and I think everyone sees that he can't play hurt as bad as he is. On top of that the offensive line is in total shambles and can't be fixed at this point. It is not like there are 2 or 3 offensive lineman just sitting there unemployed somewhere who can come in and turn this thing around. On top of that the Rams are limiting their play-calling and can't protect him. To me it is a no-brainer that Frerotte is the starter at home against Arizona next Sunday. As far as what happened in Dallas not concerning Marc Bulger there were a couple of horrible things that happened that speak to he larger problems with the Rams. The Rams talentwise just aren't as good or as deep as most teams in the NFL. The Rams used a second round pick on Joe Klopfenstein and frankly he is going to get one of the quarterbacks killed on this team. The Demarcus Ware play that you saw on Fox this weekend is only the tip of the iceberg on how bad he is playing. Adam Goldberg wasn't much better in blocking this weekend and I don't think we need to rehash how bad cornerback Lenny Walls was. It all speaks to bad drafts and bad depth. You have to build your depth through the draft and picking up the correct street free agents. The Rams do neither well right now and they are going to pay for their transgressions in 2007. It is going to be a LONG season. |
