I don't know if there are spirits that interact with the human world or not. I guess it's one of those things in life that either you believe or you don't. I'll let others debate that point. But I can tell you that I've had a few--I guess you would say "creepy"--things that have happened to me in my house. A few years ago I bought an old building in the city of St. Louis. It was built during the 1890's. It had been a saloon at one time, a grocery store, an auto parts place, a seed company and hardware store. It's a "loft style" place. That means it's open and some of the walls are what I call three-quarter. In other words, the wall doesn't reach all the way to the ceiling. It's got an open-air feel. It has hardwood floors and because they're old you can easily tell when someone is walking across the floor. One night my wife and I were lying in bed talking about a variety of things. At one point I said, "Think about the ghosts this building must have. It's so old. You have to figure that at one time someone must have died here. Perhaps an accident or just natural causes. But in a century a lot can happen." My wife just shrugged and said, 'I guess so." We started talking about other things---our kids, work, vacation, whatever. Then we heard the footsteps. Our son was walking across the floor outside the bedroom and stopped at the bedroom door. Remember, with the three-quarter walls you can easily hear anything going on outside the room. My wife called out, 'What is it honey?" There was no answer. I got out of bed and opened the door. No one there. I walked to the other room. No one there. I walked into my son's room. He was sound asleep in his bed. It wasn't as if one of us thought they heard someone walking. We both heard the footsteps. They were loud enough that we stopped our conversation. It was strange. We didn't think a whole lot more about it until a few months later. We had received wind chimes as a gift from some relatives in Texas. I hadn't hung the chimes up outside yet so in the meantime I just hung them on the edge of the doorframe inside the house. My wife was in the kitchen just around the corner from the doorway. The chimes started ringing. But not just making a gentle sound. She said they were ringing "violently." So much so, that she thought they would be damaged. She yelled from the kitchen at our son, "Gage.....STOP THAT!" She came out of the kitchen and looked at the chimes hanging on the doorframe. At that moment our son came out of his bedroom and asked, "Why are you yelling at me? What did I do?" He was nowhere near the chimes or even in the same room. The third incident was last year and involved our two-year-old daughter. My wife was playing with her in her bedroom. Our daughter would frequently stop and look toward the open bedroom door. My wife thought she looked scared. Each time my wife would ask what was wrong. Our daughter wouldn't answer (remember, she's only two-years-old and at that age where she's not the most articulate being in the world). Finally, our daughter grabbed my wife around the legs with both arms and wouldn't let go. She was frightened of something. My wife asked what was wrong? What was she scared of? Our daughter said, "That man out there" and pointed toward the door. Strange stuff. Okay, I'm not saying I'm ready for "Ghost Hunters" to come to my house. But still.... So do you have your own strange experiences when it comes to the unexplained? The strange? The creepy? Any send-a-chill-up-your-spine things that have happend to you? Go ahead and post it here. 4 CommentsLeave a comment |

HAUNTED HOUSE STORY: Once upon a time in the Hauted State of Illinois there was a Wizard that flew towards the East on a broom stick and landed in a big White House. The Wizard was surrounded with Witches and Warlocks that were evil and cursed. The Wizard in the Big White House wanted to cure the evil and cursed Witches and Warlocks, so he began passing out Billions of Unregulated Tax Dollars to the Evil Corporate Dragons in a House called Wallstreet. After the evil Corporate Dragons wasted all the Wizards Treasures, the Wizard flew home to the evil State of Illinois that he came from in the Year 2012. The Wizard again was surrounded with Creepy Crooked Witches and Warlocks. And the Wizard sat on his throne of stolen Treasures and said....When everything else fails...there is always Greed Greed Greed and Greed.....The Wizard, His Queen and His two little siblings lived Happily Ever After in Prison.
When I live at my mom's house, one morning I was laying in bed and looked to my door and saw a hand reaching around it. Thinking it was either my brother or sister I said "what?" no answer so I got up and went into both there rooms and they were both still asleep. Another morning I had just got out of the shower and was brushing my teeth when I heard a noise and turned around to see the garbage lid swing back and forth. I looked to see if maybe something had fallin into it and it was empty. My mom had numerous experiences and still does. She has seen a man standing outside her doorway and also felt someone get into bed with her. One of the last things I had happen to me before I moved out was with my boyfriend. He would have these really bad dreams,so bad he would wake me up and I would have to wake him up. One night when he was staying with me I woke up to him having one of his bad dreams but he wasn't sleeping. He told me someone had tryed to strangle him. He was visibly shaken so I prayed over him. He had to go to the bathroom and when he came back he said "HE's gone" I said "who?". "The person who was doing that. I saw him outside". This freaked me out!! I told my mom but she told me to never tell my siblings. I never felt scared in the house but somethings there.
There definitely are spirits that interact with the human world. Our house is haunted. It was built in 1929 and we have lived here since 1977. There are two spirits that share our home-one male and one female. We have had several psychics confirm this and we have many many impartial witnesses who have seen things. Two very well known radio stations have done Halloween programs in our home and they too have witnessed some of the things that we have seen. We have audio and video recordings of unexplained sounds and images, produced by the radio stations-not by us. Our children are all adults now but when they were young, they would tell us about things they saw-sometimes it would scare them-sometimes not. We have learned to live with these spirits-or should I say we allow them to live with us-because they cause no problems and we are so used to them being here, it would seem strange if they weren’t here.
I have four stories that are creepy.
The first happened when I was about 8 years old. My family lived in a house on the outskirts of "The Hill". My sister and I had the attic room. We had been up in bed one night talking, like girls always do. We went downstairs, my sister to talk to my mother and I to go to the bathroom. We got to the bottom of the stairs and she went to the right, to talk to Mom and I went to the left, to hit the potty. I came out of the bathroom and my sister was heading back upstairs, I followed her. When we got to the top of the stairs, I was all alone! I went screaming down the stairs and in to my Mom's room and there was my sister. They were both looking at me as if I had startled them.
My second story happened when I was about 31 years old. I was at my sister's house for a party...not a drinking party, it was a candle party. You need to understand that my brother-in-law is a huge jokester. I was in the kitchen getting something and I heard my brother-in-law coming up the stairs. He had his work boots on and he was clomping up the stairs, to scare us, I was sure. I decided to turn the table on him. I went to the basement door and motioned to my sister's freind, who was also in the kitchen, to be quiet. I waited for him to get to the top of the stairs. When he got there, I threw the door open...No one was there! Now understand, we heard those footsteps come up to the top step of the stairway!
This story requires a little background. When I was growing up, my stepmom worked at a beauty shop in south St Louis. Her clientelle wanted to come in at 3 AM to get their hair done! The shop opened at 4 AM. My stepmom would leave the house at around 3 AM. My father was the type that didn't want to be awake alone. So, he would come and wake me up after my stepmom left on Saturday mornings. We would go out on the front porch and have coffee and watch the sun rise. We loved sunrise. About a month after my father died I was headed to work, I was headed south on highway 79. The river was to my left. I suddenly heard my father, " Rob! Rob! Look at that sunrise!" I looked over and I saw the most beautiful sunrise of my life! I looked back over to the passenger seat, it was empty.
My last story happened about one year later. I was running to the store at about 6:30 on a Sunday night. There really wasn't much open except for the 24 hour grocery store. I was heading toward Lindbergh and I got a flat tire. I pulled in to a gas station parking lot. It was closed. There was a Church's Fried Chicken across the street. They were closed. I didn't have a cell phone at that time...so, I decided to change my own flat tire. After all, that was one of the lessons I had to learn before my father would allow me to get my driver's license. I opened the trunk and pulled out the spare, the jack and the tire iron. I was able to remove the lug nuts, no problem. When I tried to get the tire off, it wouldn't budge. I mean, it wouldn't budge! I tried and tried. It wouldn't move. I really didn't know what I was going to do. I decided to wrap my arms around the tire and pull, even though my father had told me to never do that. I had my arms wrapped around the tire and I started to pull. Just as I did, some"one", pushed my shoulder and knocked me back on my rear! Just as I fell, so did the car, off of the jack! My arms would have been severely injured! Of course, there was no one there.
