The "Tour of Missouri" bike race starts Monday. For the past two years the race has started in Kansas City and ended in St. Louis. This year the schedule is flip-flopped and it starts here and ends on the western side of the state. Word is that the folks in Kansas City weren't happy with the schedule before. That's because the race would start in Kansas City on a Monday (a weekday, heaven forbid!) and end up in St. Louis on a weekend when the city could take advantage of the fans drawn to the race.

The race has shown itself to be a winner when it comes to bringing in the $$$ and bringing the sporting world spotlight to St. Louis.

If you've never been to a bike race you might want to check it out. I went to a race at Lafayette Square last year. It's more than just the cyclists on the roadway. There was something of a festival atmosphere as well.

Like any other sport it has its fair share of jargon that you should be familiar with. When we were over at the Ballpark Village site today (several of the teams are set up their with their trailers) I saw the "Broom Wagon" sign on a van. I had no idea what the "Broom Wagon" does. I googled it. There are too many terms to list them all here so try hitting the internet to learn more.
