August 2009 Archives Here are a few more intersting numbers from the Rasmussen poll which showed 57 percent of Americans would like to replace Congress completely.
We took a tour of Highway 40 today. Or I guess I should say a tour of the reconstruction that's part of the i-64 Project. The five-mile stretch of road from I-170 east to Kingshighway. I'll tell you this---it's looking pretty good. Crews have about 90% of the concrete poured. There are a few sections that have to be completed but it would appear they're on the home stretch. The soundwalls are going up in places, the median... On Friday, the University of Missouri's chancellor sent this letter to an Anheuser-Busch attorney asking the company to stop its marketing practices tied to the sales of black and gold cans of Bud Light. Around the country, AB is selling a total of 27 color combinations. Mizzou i... Liquor prices are going up, if you buy your wine, beer and hard liquor in Illinois. You have until midnight tonight to save on your next purchase. Beginning tomorrow September 1st, 2009, prices on all liquor will go up, due to an increase in the state liquor tax. On a fifth of liquor the state tax goes up from 90 cents to $1 dollar and 71 cents. The tax on a bottle of wine goes up from 15 to 28 cents. And the tax on a six pac... Several schools districts are putting out info now on the H1N1 flu virus. Feel free to use these links to find what you need. Here is the letter from the Rockwood superintendent on H1n1: Parkway schools are directing people to visit the state health website at: Hazelwood Schools have these recommendations... In a usual year, city schools have to hire about 200 teachers at the beginning of the year. We are less than 24 hours away before you will pay more for liquor in the state of Illinois. According to the Illinois Department of Revenue taxes will go from 90 cents to 1.71 on a fifth of liquor, from .15 to .28 cents on a price of wine, and .10 to .13 cents on a six-pack of beer. Some Illinois liquor stores believe that many consumers will travel to Missouri to save money on liquor. It will be interesting to see how this new bill helps or... We met a woman this afternoon who is on a long journey. It is a journey that will, most likely, last her the rest of her life. It deals with grief. One year ago tonight her husband, 23-year-old Matthew Walsh, was shot and killed as he sat in his car in front of his home in south St. Louis. He was returning home from his shift working as a mechanic at Trans States Airlines at Lambert airport. The case has grown cold. Today,... The Cards put another one in the "W" column tonight taking another one from the Washington Nationals 9-4. I'm feeling something like a sports reporter right now passing along that info to you. But the reason I bring it up is because the wins on the field are translating to wins at the cash register for downtown businesses. We were at The Over / Under Bar & Grill earlier today. It's on Washington Avenue which means it's about t... Sarrea Layton has never coveted the TV camera but she's worried people are starting to forget about 9-11-01 and decided to do an interview with me on the topic. "Unless you're personally connected, you don't really have a reason to think about September 11th," Layton told me this afternoon as we sat on a bench at the Heroes Memorial in Fenton's City Park. Layton has a reason to think about September 11th every day. She'll be... Before the fire at a home in Des Peres got too intense, a neighbor spotted flames in the garage and rushed over to help. According to a spokeswoman for the West County Fire Department, the neighbor ran to the house, knocked on the door, and alerted the homeowner to the fire. The fire department ruled the fire an accident that was likely caused by an overloaded electrical outlet in the garage. The fire department suspects a camper, ... As I sit here tonight the Cards are losing to the Washington Nationals. Their magic number stands at 27. We'll see if it changes before the night is over. As the Cardinals front office is quick to remind us, the team has to win the division first before they can get into the play-offs. But Major League Baseball has given the Cardinals, and about a dozen and a half other teams, permission to sell play-off tickets. It would se... After getting word of H1N1 in Rockwood, we went to a school nurse for advice. Not any school nurse but Linda Neumann who the state recognized as "School Nurse of the Year." She works at Hixson Middle School in Webster Groves. Linda had some additional common sense approaches beyond washing our hands a lot to keep an H1N1 outbreak from coming to a school near you. She says parents need to make sure their kids eat three good me... Health officials warned us that swine flu would spread as soon as school resumed and they were right. Cases are popping up in a number of districts. The health department has stopped testing each case of flu to see if its H1N1, but since its early for seasonal flu, most flu cases now are assumed to be swine flu. I talked to parents in the Rockwood District today and most seemed to be just telling their kids to step up hygiene. We'll show y... Following the cases of Steven Stayner, Elizabeth Smart, and Shawn Hornbeck: another kidnapping victim has been reunited with her family. Jaycee Lee Dugard was kidnapped at her school bus stop in 1991. She was 11 years old. Now, 18 years later, her family learns she is alive. A convicted sex offender and his wife have been arrested. For many of us locally, the news in California brings to mind the story of Shawn Hornbeck. H... That's what the President of the American Federation of Teachers is saying. We haven't heard praise for city schools (as a whole) in a long time. Of course there are thousands of people working very hard to educate students, but the District has been plagued by infighting and a revolving door when it comes to Superintendents. The owners of 7th and Cerre, are hoping to see the All Star game and activites all over again. This is their first season, as the owners of the brawt, food and drink location, just a few yards away from Busch Stadium. They say their business saw a dramatic increase during 2 days of the activities surrounding the All Star Game. Now they are hoping for a repeat. They hope the Cardinals make it into the playoffs and World Series. They ho... As smokers get squeezed out by smoking bans in several places now they have a change in the favotrite cigarette to deal with. The FSC or fire safet cigarette is designed to go out by itself when left alone within 3 minutes. It's no wonder fire safety groups have pushed for this and supporters say it does reduce accidental fires in states that already have the law. Have you seen this video yet? It's one of the most popular on YouTube right now. It is a four minute clip of a public service announcement made in England. It depicts a car crash caused by a young driver, distracted as she text messages. The clip is bloody, it shows glass flying through the car on impact, and you can hear what sounds like bones breaking. ...Today at 5 o clock we aired a story about the bee population booming around the St. Louis region. We interviewed a beekeeper, and during our interview he actually received a call about a swarm of bees in south St Louis. We tagged along, and sure enough there were tons of bees all over a fence post. Jim Buxton was able to locate the queen, and that allowed him to move the swarm. Buxton says there have been lots of calls about swarming bees this...

A 5 year old Godfrey, IL boy not only somehow got on the wrong bus at school (his third day of school) without being scene by a teacher or an aide... he wasn't checked by the bus driver. Friends and family want to have a $300,000 pavilion erected with all sorts of symbolism in a popular park. They're almost 10% of the way there, having raised more than $28,000 in a few months. "Classic corruption" is how assistant US attorney Hal Goldsmith describe it. Donna Green couldn't understand why her five-year old son Tyler, a kindergarten student at Mullanphy Elementary was denied his free lunch on his third day of school Monday. The district says Tyler's is one of at least 3,000 free lunch applications they still don't have. As soon as they do, he'll get his free lunches. Investigators say Elijah Muhammad escaped from the St. Clair County Jail on Monday afternoon. We are told that Muhammad pretended to be another inmate, and he simply walked out of the front door. Investigators are still searching for Muhammad. If you have any information on his whereabouts you are urged to call the St. Clair County Sheriff's office. ... The biggest clunker in the Cash for Clunkers program may end up being the government's website for processing the applications. Dealers now are under great pressure to try and get those applications in so they can get reimbursed for fronting the 45 hundred dollars for every deal they made. Could it be? Could Cash for Clunkers really be ending tonight at 7? Well, sort of. At least the dealers have more time to submit claims for reimbursement. The government's website where dealers have to submit their claims went down this morning and stayed down most of the day. Dealers were suspecting the time would be extended and they're right. They now have until 11am tomorrow. I asked Weber Chevrolet if the program was successful. T... We've brought you several stories recently about auto dealers and a boost in sales. It's all because of the "Cash for Clunkers" program. But there's an auto dealer in the St. Louis area that says he's had a boost in sales and he hasn't turned in one "Cash for Clunkers" application. Jim Lynch owns the Lynch Hummers dealership in Chesterfield. He's converted it into a combination Hummer/Firearms dealership. Where you used t... The "Cash for Clunkers" program is going to wrap up on Monday at 7pm St. Louis time. The program has been--at the same time---wildly successful and maddening. About half a million vehicles have moved off the lots since the program began roughly a month ago. One of the problems was, about half of those vehicles went within the first four days. The applications flooded in. The "system" couldn't handle the load. Auto dealers ...
Another apparent sign of the slow economy. We were getting the idea the high cost of a private school education was forcing more families to move their kids into public schools. I called three big school districts in the area: Hazelwood, Parkway and Rockwood and they all confirm they've got more students coming in from private schools but it seems none of those districts were caught off guard by it. Some told me they stay in... There was no shouting, just discussion today at a Russ Carnahan health care reform event. At noon on Saturday the weirdest conservative political protest St Louis has ever seen will take place. At least that what the organizers are promsing. About 30 seventh and eighth-grade boys from the Berkeley Junior Bulldogs were back on the practice field where two evenings earlier they saw their friend and fellow player collapse and die. Their were tears and tributes and challenges. Coach Lonnie Jordan told them if they want to dedicate this season to "Big Anthony" as he called his biggest player, that's fine, but they're going to have to work and play like Anthony did. Tha... At municipal police departments in Illinois, the age limit for a rookie cop is 35. If you are 36 years old with no previous law enforcement experience, you would be too old to apply. Chief Ed Delmore of the Fairview Heights Police Department was frustrated because the rule often forced him to turn away retired military officers who were often just over the age limit. Chief Delmore says veterans are usually in good shape and would mak... Are texting and email so prevalent that students are forgetting how to write formal english? A 53-year-old father and grandfather, missing since August 7th, is feared to be a victim of a crime. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office says Chester Scherer (who is from Ste. Now, detectives want to hear from anyone who saw that vehicle traveling along Highway Y in t... The head coach of the Berkeley Junior Bulldogs told me something today he really didn't want people to know at first. Because his youth team hasn't been able to raise enough money for uniforms, pads, cleats, etc (about $5,000 short) he was going to disassemble the team at the end of the week so the 50 seventh and eighth-graders could try to get on other teams. But with the sudden death of 13-year old Anthony Troupe there's a ne... Thirteen year old Anthony Troupe died yesterday after collapsing on the football field.
Hundreds of people were forced outside of the Millennium hotel in downtown St. Louis. This comes after a fire started in the kitchen. News 4, witnessed as a father and mother, and as a son and daughter waited for more than an hour outside the hotel. Once fire crews put out the fire guest were able to return to the Millennium Hotel. However, there would be one major problem. Firefighters had to return an hour later to put out hot spots in the ... The meeting about the H1N1 flu in Ellisville only drew about a dozen people. Obviously health experts would have liked to been able to reach more people, so why did so many stay away? It is the first day of school and certainly families are busy. Maybe we're all fatigued by the swine flu coverage from the spring and people already know all they want to know. Or is that people may be letting their guard down this fall. Certainly hea... Five months ago I visited a St. Peters neighborhood where residents were fed up with an unfinished construction project - today those frustrations remain unchanged. It was supposed to be Missouri's first green community, now the entire project could end up in a landfill. The original developer went out of business, and according to the city the smattering of unfinished buildings are owned by several different banks. If you're familiar with St.... I just got off the phone with the media relations person at Christian Northwest Hospital and I'm sad to say he told me that child died. At this point his name is not being released. Prayers to his family, friends and coaches. Heartbreaking. ...It happened just after 6pm in Ferguson. The seventh and eighth graders on Berkley Junior Bulldogs were stretching... that's it. The head coach says they hadn't begun to exert themselves. Then one of the players collapsed. That young boy is in critical condition at Christian Northwest Hospital. The cops on the scene downplayed the whole thing for some reason. "A kid passed out," said the sergeant as he turned his back on me ...
Many of you had questions about why a 40-year-old man accused of putting a 7-year-old in a choke-hold is charged with a misdemeanor (instead of a felony). Monday afternoon, I called the prosecutor's office and did not get a call back. Today, we followed up with the prosecutor. Reasoning Behind the Charge Did you ever think America's expanding waistline could be the reason many of our paramedics are injured on the job? Well, as it turns out it is true. Lieutenant Tim Rainey with the Collinsville Fire Department spoke to me about it earlier today; he says on occasion paramedics are hurt while attempting to lift a heavy person. For example, Last year in Collinsville 12 firefighter-paramedics suffered "lift" injuries. Collinsville's Fire Dep... Did you hear the incredible story of the Tunisian woman who is pregnant with 12 babies and she plans to give birth to all of them? Of course, we don't know if all will survive, but this again raises the question of ethical fertility treatment. (Octomom wasn't that long ago) Pharmacy benefits management giant Express Scripts got some good news today. Missouri's Development Finance Board voted unanimously to PRELIMINARILY approve a $3-million bond incentive to get Express Scripts to grow in Missouri. Final approval could come next month. A spokesperson with Express Scripts told me they're pleased with the news out of Jefferson City, but since they still haven't officially gotten the incentive money... If you would like to find out more about Grace Church in Fairview Heights, IL checkout their website http://www.graceweb.tv/ ...Police are still trying to figure out what motivated a man to choke a seven year old boy. Police said the attack happened at a Target in Fairview Heights,IL. Investigators say 40-year old Robert Fricke choked the little boy as he used the bathroom. Police say the little boy fought off his attacker. Police arrested Fricke and he was charged with misdemeanor.
Sunday afternoon, a seven year old boy walked into the men's room at the Target store at 4602 N. Illinois Street (Highway 159) in Fairview Heights. Once inside, the boy says a man grabbed him from behind and put him in a choke hold. The child screamed and kicked and ran out of the bathroom to his mother, who was waiting outside the door. The child was not hurt and did not need medical treatment. Store employees told the man ... The case of the string of garage burglaries in St Charles seems to highlight a problem that is all too common in many neighborhoods. Garage doors left open. In just about all the burglaries in this case, police say the garage doors were left open creating a perfect opportunity for a criminal to take something. In this cases police now have about 10 thousand dollars worth of yard equipment they are trying to return to their owners. Two shootings, one fatal, just a couple blocks south of Busch Stadium is prompting the question. Police say crime, except robbery, is down in Downtown. Residents Associations say they don't hear reports of rampant random crime from their members. While the fact that the victims in both case were acquainted with their assailants doesn't make their murder and assault any less horrible, it is a factor. If they had not associated with the shoo... A Pennsylvania couple we met today had very little, or nothing, to say in a positive way about St. Louis. They were disgusted with what had happened to them. She's in the Barnes-Jewish hospital recovering from a possible stroke. Their SUV was parked in the garage at the hospital. A thief, or thieves, broke in and stole the man's wallet, his wife's purse, medication, jewelry and cell phones. The man has been a truck driver si... We've brought you the story of Jake Gregory before. She's the St. Charles teenager who fell off a cliff in Klondike Park while shooting pictures with a friend. She fell about 60 feet and died--twice--on the way to the hospital but was revived. She held a thank-you party today at a park in St. Charles. It was a chance for her to to thank all the people who have helped her on her road to recovery. Paramedics were there, doctors... Ellisville police recently put out an alert to other law enforcement agencies as detectives investigate the theft of 20 rims and tires worth $18,000. The wheels came off five, 2009 BMW 3 Series cars. The cars belonged to Suntrup West County BMW, but were parked at a nearby dealership's lot in Ellisville. The lot is fenced, but it's unclear whether the fence was locked. Police say the criminals hit the same lot twice in a we... A judge has dimissed a lawsuit against the Illiniois State Police Officer involved in the crash that killed Jessica and Kelli Uhl. The teenagers were killed in a cross-over accident involving Matt Mitchell. The suit was from a Fayetteville, Illinois, couple (Christine and Kelly Marler) who were also injured in the crash. But it should be made clear that the judge's action does NOT mean the couple's case is over. The judge ha... Governor Quinn signed an amendment this week expanding Illinois' Safe Haven Law. Instead of seven days, new parents have 30 days to relinquish their newborns at hospitals, police stations and fire stations as a legal last resort. But 56 have been abando... Starting September 1st: candy, soda, some toiletry items will cost you more in Illinois stores. Instead I will tell you I just don't get it. I don't get how a guy who's been named Outstanding Educator from the National Bandmasters Association and received the "50 Directors Who Make ... A seven month old boy is left in a hot car in South St. Louis. This comes a week after a 1 year old girl died in St. Clair County after her mother left her in the car. Police charged the mother Jennifer Gomez with child endangerment. As for the seven month old found in the car Wednesday morning we are told he is conscious and breathing. We are still awaiting word if the parents in this case will be charged.
Three engine failures in the last 5 days for American Airlines is firing up the red flags among pilots. All three incidents involve MD-80's. Experts tell us these planes are the work-horses of American's fleet and are among the most reliable in the industry. Yesterday at News 4 at Six I worked on a "Your Stories" report about flip camera found at the St. Louis Zoo. Jenna Monroe contacted News 4 and asked us to tell her story. Less than a half an hour after we aired the story I received an email from a woman identifying the camera and offering proof that it belong to one of her family members. This is one of those stories that can make you smile. We were more than happy to help Jenna Mo...
Almost two years to the day Antonio Andrews shot and killed St. Louis Police officer Norvelle Brown, Brown's mother Allie is smiling and shedding tears of joy. After five and a half hours of deliberations the jury (five men, seven women) decided Andrews was guilty of first-degree murder. As the verdict came down, Allie Brown said aloud, "Thank you, Jesus." She told us minutes later, "I'm so happy. It feels so good once...
When you meet Dennis and Robyn Chiodnin - (pronounced Key-O- Dee-Knee ) you quickly realize the sense of "family" on "The Hill" in South St. Louis city. The community is rich in Italian immigrant history. Generations of families living in the same neighborhood. Ande years ago, when you left the neighborhood, you did not sell your home. According to Robyn, you would donate the house to the Italian Catholic parish. I have never covered a case like this one. A man's body is discovered in a fire in his home this morning. The Major Case Squad is called in. All information must come from St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Bob McCulloch's office. It is unusual for the Major Case Squad not to be its own spokesperson. And the only information from McCulloch is that they're awaiting autopsy results. If it isn't a crime, why is the PA involved? And if i... Jurors are hearing closing arguments wrapping up the swift two-day first-degree murder trial of 17-year old Antonio Andrews. He's accused of killing St. Louis Police officer Norvelle Brown on August 15th, 2007. The courtroom is s... When the Illinois government began to slash it's budget over the summer, The Monetary Award Program (MAP) was cut. Schools across the state are affected by this. At Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, the financial aid director tells me the school is losing $5.3 million in funding for the spring semester. This means that around 2,800 low-income students who were awarded an average of $1,20...
I talked to about a dozen participants of the forum afterward, and I couldn't find anybody who changed their position. Everyone was complimentary of Senator McCaskill, even those who hate the health care plan. There was one incident which marred the event, althoughd very briefly. Police weren't about to let anything get out of hand like at the Carnahan event. After the forum, dozens stayed around to debate their positions, but it was an ex... ...or iPod, or digital camera or GPS unit, or wallet and on and on. I am watching the crowd outside the McCaskill forum, and there's nothing like what happened in Mehlville last week. There are about a dozen people with signs, and a few offering petitions to sign, but the discussions are civil. 12:10 pm 1:45 pm Senator Clair McCaskill will hold a town hall meeting on Tuesday morning in Hillsboro. McCaskill will address questions about health care reform. This town hall meeting comes after Unviersity City Leaders canceled McCaskill's appearance due to safety concerns. Because of that McCaskill, will extend her public forum by one hour. If you want to attend the public meeting you must register on McCaskill's website or register outside of the meeting... So the stage is set for another health care reform meeting. This one hosted by Sen Claire McCaskill will take place in the roomy Field House at Jefferson College in Hillsboro.
It would be tough to remember the last time the opening of a grocery store meant so much to a neighborhood. Tuesday morning Schnuck's supermarkets will officially open its downtown store at 9th & Olive. Talk to someone living in the downtown area or in the loft district and they will tell you this is huge. For years people have heard the same line over and over again when it came to living in the downtown area---there are no gr... We covered one of the more difficult stories that a reporter will ever have to cover in their career. It involved the death of children. Three children died in an apartment fire in north St. Louis county early Saturday morning. Today we were invited to go to the family's church. There were several family members of the children at the church service this morning. The grief was, at times, almost unbearable. The family membe... You've probably heard that if you're caught in a fire a few seconds of warning can mean the difference between life and death. That might have been the case in a fire early Saturday morning in North St. Louis county. Fire broke out in a one-bedroom apartment. Three children died in the fire. Two little boys and their baby sister. The apartment had two smoke detectors. But the batteries were dead in both alarms. The fire hous... Seasonal flu kills more people every year than H1 N1 (swine flu) has killed this year, but doctors point out that the H1 N1 virus disproportionately affects school age children and young adults. Three months ago tonight a 14-year-old was gunned down by armed robbers while helping his father at the family's barbecue stand on Kingshighway. There have been no arrests in the case yet. The family is hoping someone who knows something ab... What can you say about that forum Congressman Carnahan had on aging? That it got out of hand? That more people wanted to debate health care reform? That some in attendance were less than respectful? I guess its a fine line between healthy discussion and angry disagreement. For the safety of it's students, staff and community, the University City School District says it can no longer host Senator McCaskill's town hall meeting planned for next Tuesday at the high school. What a sad state of affairs. Some people are apparently so passionate about their cause they're incapable of expressing themselves without resorting to violence, shouting and overall disrespect for people for whom they disagree. ... When I asked many people who went to the "Forum on Aging that really turned into a Health Care Reform meeting, " there were alot of mixed feelings. A St. Charles County's cyber crimes unit investigation led detectives to a Saint Louis County teacher. Neil Patrick Swyres offered his resignation on Thursday morning. There are ordinances and regulations in the city, but apparently one person doesn't think he has to follow them. The St. Clair County Sheriff's Department says one-year-old Giselle Gomez was left in a loved one's parked car with the engine running for approximately an hour and fifteen minutes to an hour and a half. When paramedics got there after a businness owner and client tried to revive her with CPR, the child was in full cardiac arrest and died at the hospital. The sale is in the same place, the Boulevard, the shopping area across from the Galleria Mall and will only be on Saturday. The doors will open at 10 am and close at 4 pm. Aside from clothing, shoes, jewelry, accessories for both men and women there will also... The assistant pastor at Southern Mission Baptist Church drove by his church Tuesday evening for the first time since Sunday services. He discovered a message on the marquee that clearly wasn't put there by the church. It read: "Abortion should be mandatory." "Hail Satan." "Gay rights." Police came and took the letters as evidence and to see about getting finger prints off them. Bishop John Mitchell Jr., the senior p... The crowd estimates I was given at Maryville University is that there were close to 400 people in the auditorium, and maybe only a few left early. Regardless of where you may stand on this issue of health care reform it's obvious that a good number of people care about it. I talked to the guys at Kugman Motors which has stood along North Kingshighway for some 30 years. They say customer traffic has quieted down a bit the past couple of weeks during the Cash for Clunkers craze. People who typically buy used cars are finding they can suddenly afford new ones thanks to the $4,500 credit towards they're trade-in "clunker." Sales manager, Sid Kahn says it feels like new car dealers have an unfair adv... The headline says it all. Carole Buck escaped - unharmed - and that means her family is grateful. Yes, irreplaceable memorabilia and pictures of Jack Buck were lost. But others were saved. Bottom line, according to Joe, he'll make the trade of possessions for his mother's life any day. So if you believe the website Think Progress, there is a conservative plan to try and distrupt town hall meetings held by democrats on Health Care Reform. Tonight I visited K.D. Grays in Berkeley, the owner is holding a fund raiser for Officer Donald Shultz. Shultz was shot three times in the line of duty two weeks ago. It was pretty amazing to see Shultz out of the hospital, and walking on crutches at the bar. Renee Laneman told me she wants to help the officer with medical expenses because the Berkeley police have helped her business in the past. If you want to help you're not too late. There ... The government's "Cash for Clunkers" program is proving to be wildly successful. Of course it has its critics like any government program. It was set up in a hurry and if you talk to some auto dealers they'll tell you it can be a complex program with a "ton of paperwork" involved. The government's now fine-tuning things a bit. Here was the problem---let's say you wanted to trade in your car. You cut a deal with the auto deale... Wow, good crime news. That's not the norm but its the case today. Crime is down in the areas patrolled by St. Louis County. STL Co. also patrols about 16 municipalities as well as the unincorporated areas. Crime is also down in North County areas not patrolled by the County. Its down 21% for the first six months of the year. Of course, July and August are "hot" crime months so we won't have the whole picture until year's end. But today,... Friday, more than 400 state employees working in six Illinois prisons started to receive pink slips. It is the start of $1 Billion in state spending cuts, outlined by Governor Pat Quinn last week. This afternoon, a Department of Corrections spokesperson tells me that the layoffs take effect on September 30th. There are more cuts to come. Gov. Quinn plans 1,073 layoffs statewide thi... We covered a story today about four young men from west St. Louis county who are in Kenya right now shooting a documentary on poverty. A plane crashed that was carrying two of the St. Louisans in Kenya. The pilot of the plane died in the crash. A flight engineer was hospitalized. One of the St. Louisans, 25-year-old Dan Parris of Manchester, is hospitalized with a broken collarbone and additional injuries. Rob Lehr, 26, from Ballwin, ...

After the mass, Archbishop Carlson greeted parishioners outside the church. Then, he took questions from reporters. Archbishop Carlson said he does not remember if he's met James Patrick Grady. I asked if ... |
