Those who knew Sister Elaine Lamm say she was an incredible giving and caring person. She became a nun because she wanted to serve others. Her life certainly seems to reflect that. She was involved in several causes including helping the homeless. Friday night she was at the Cardinals game at Busch stadium. It was the annual night at the ballpark fundraiser for her order, The Sisters of the Most Precious Blood. The order had four busloads of fans that went to the game. The buses returned to O'Fallon, MO, where the order is located. She got off the bus and, along with Sister Marie Frances Wiederholt, started to cross North Main street. A car struck them both. We're told that Lamm died almost immediately, Wiederholt is in serious but stable condition. The O'Fallon, Police department is not releasing many details of the accident right now except to say that it happened just before midnight and the vehicle that struck them was heading north. |
