Mayer Homes Update, Empty Lots Debate

9:31 PM Wed, Jun 03, 2009 |

By now, we've all heard that Mayer Homes is going out of business. What he haven't heard is what that means for homeowners. Well, one man found out tonight. He lives in Behlman Farms subdivision in North St. Louis County where there are hundreds of homes and 47 empty lots. He emailed J. R. Mayer, the Vice President of Purchasing for Mayer Homes, last week to ask what the company is going to do about the empty lots. Mayers response was not what he was hoping for, the email he sent reads "at this time I cannot tell you what we will be able to do. As I am sure you have seen in the news we are in some trouble with the bank which means the bank will determine what we will and wont be able to do. But, it does not look good."

It is also important to note that, up until last month Mayer Homes cut the grass on the empty lots every three weeks.

Now homeowners aren't too sure what to do, they faced with two options: hire someone else to cut the lots or do it themselves.

As you can imagine, the homeowners do not like these options. As a result, they are now thinking about suing Mayer Homes.

Do you have anything thoughts about what is going on?
