| A Guide to St. Louis: What would You Add? »
I always enjoy my conversations with Dave Sinclair, I grew up watching his commercials, and to have the opportunity to know him on a personal level is pretty cool. Dave is a straight shooter, and he is not afraid to share his opinion. Today Dave shared some good news with me about his business, HE'S HIRING! We keep hearing about layoffs across the metro, but Dave tells me he's looking for at least 5 sales people, a finance guy, and a couple of good mechanics. However, he's not looking for someone simply because they need a job. Sinclair wants to find a hard worker, and although he won't discriminate based on age, he would like to hire someone over 50. He tells me the 50 plus crowd knows how to work. If you think you would be a good candidate Dave says you can drop off your resume at the dealership on South Lindbergh. Today I also asked the 81 year old car dealer about his cancer treatment. He tells me cancer is a battle but not the biggest one he's ever faced. He is optimistic, but he's taking the treatment day by day. He still shows up to work several times a week, and although he might not be on the lot, he's still supervising in the showroom. I know I speak for many people who grew up in St. Louis by saying I wish him well. He is truly an icon in our city, and we hope he pulls through. I can't imagine anyone other than Dave Sinclair standing behind that podium selling cars - a commercial concept that's as classic as the man himself.

We love you Dave! You are a true American Icon. I have purchased two "Dave Cars". The last one in October 2008. I am looking forward to buying another one from you. Thanks for all you do for the area and for reminding us Who is in charge. My family and I are praying for a full recovery for you. Keep the faith and keep selling those cars.

You have our prayers Dave. I bought my first car from your dealership in 1972 and I remember it quite well. My dad (Steve Karadja) took me to look at cars. We talked to Jim Fitzgerald, whom I think he knew. Next thing I know, I am giving him $5.00 to put down on a Ford Pinto. When we got home the two of us were in great trouble with my mom but I still got the car and paid under $2,000 for it. But my experience didn't stop there with that car, because once you started it, there was no turning it off. You could take the keys out and drive on with no trouble. The only way to shut it off was to pull the spark plugs. Boy did that have your service dept stumped. Eventually, they put something in there to shut it off. So I will never forget your dealership and my first car, my Ford Pinto. Thank you.

I wish Dave nothing but the best. He has done business the right way-by being fair and honest. God bless and prayers for a speedy recovery.
Information I get is that Dave was a St Louis Policeman many years ago before going into the car business. supposedly, when Dave said he might try to sell cars because the police business just wasn't enough,,,The response was"What do you know about selling cars Dave"
Dear Dave:
I prayers are with you and your family. You have been and always will be one of my dearest friends. May God bless you and keep you.
