They say it could be the hottest day of the year and the Cardinals and Twins play at 12:10pm at Busch Stadium. Ouch. City leaders concerned about the health of 40,000+ fans asked the Cards if they could push it to a night game. They couldn't. FOX network game of the week. The city will have more ambulances around the building and set up some spray stations outside the gates so fans can come and cool off. The Cardinals are supposedly going to provide some free water and have ushers take closer looks at the fans in the stands to see if any are running into trouble from the heat. I was unable to confirm that through the Cardinals as neither of the two people I left messages with early Friday afternoon called me back (frustrating), so we'll see. I found some fans from Minneapolis (where tomorrow's high will be 84-degrees) and they say they'll be ready for the heat. They'll be drinking lots of water and making frequent runs to the concourse to find shade and cool off. I love baseball and I've watch games in high temperatures before. It's a phyiscally draining experience. Once at a game in Cincinnati, my wife and I had pretty good seats but there was no shade. We ended up spending half the game watching from the concourse. You really have to listen to your body when you're out in that. 2 CommentsLeave a comment |

I suppose it would be to difficult to install a misting system that is similar to what there is in Las Vegas to provide an evaporative cooling effect. Either that or no one has thought of it. Makes me wonder why this wasn't taken into consideration when the design of the facility was being done. Poor, poor design firm(s). Now the public has to suffer for their incompetence.
At the Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati they have misting stations going behind the outfield for fans to enjoy all game long. I would imagine that's not the only stadium that has that, but it's one I know of and it feels good! Mark
