The eyes of the baseball world will be focused on St. Louis in a couple weeks. The Major League Baseball All-Star game brings in millions of dollars. It also means the city is opening itself up to be scrutinized. Travel guides are starting to pop up in various on-line publications. Newspapers from across the country are printing the usual stories of what to do if you're going to St. Louis. The stories point out the positive but at the same time don't skimp on the negative. They can sometimes be the types of stories that would make a Chamber of Commerce president cringe. If you take the time to explore St. Louis you'll see that it has an abundance of things to do. We all know about the Gateway Arch, the Zoo, the City Museum, the Magic House, Science Center, the Muny, etc. But there is so much more to St. Louis. There are neighborhoods that are treasures waiting to be discovered. Years ago there was a publication called 'Europe-Off the Wall". It was a book listing all the unusual tourist attractions. Everyone knows about the Eiffel tower. This book, instead, told you about the underground sewer tour in Paris. Perhaps St. Louis needs to direct out-of-towners to some of the "off-the-wall" locations.
