WIERD AND UNEXPECTED...

Katie says she and her husband Jason, are still in shock.They were in their home ,on Chapman in Edwardsville, and nothing seemed different, until they tried to open the door, to let their dogs out. The back door would not open,so they decided to go into the basement to check things out. That is when they discovered the extensive damage in the basement.

The young couple was not sure the home was safe to be in, so they
called the Fire Department. The Fire Chief in Edwardsville,Brian Wilson,
tells News 4 the foundation of their home has partially collapsed, and that is why the
building has been condemned.

In the meantime, Katie and her husband are now focusing
on the repairs.The insurance company tells them, they are not covered for flood damage. She has yet to get any contractors to give her any firm estimates. And her family members are suggesting they may want to consider re-financing their home, in order to get the money necessary to make their repairs. The couple is living with inlaws. In the meantime,

Katie says all of this leaves them feeling very wierd, since it was so unexpected.
