We covered the dedication of a small memorial park this afternoon in Granite City. The Zimmer family owns a business and they took a small piece of their land and landscaped it and dedicated it as "Adam's Park." It's a tribute to Adam Zimmer and his wife Lindsey Arnold-Zimmer. They were killed February 21st in an accident caused by an alleged drunk driver. The suspect has several previous drunk driving arrests. The small park has three benches, flowers and about half a dozen trees. It's a nice place to sit and reflect. The family was afraid that Adam and Lindsey would be forgotten over time. Adam's brother, Chris, said this will help preserve their memory. He can bring his children to this area one day and tell them about their uncle and aunt. Adam and Lindsey's unborn child also was killed in the accident. They had already chosen a name--Riley. He was due in July. |
