It was a "funeral" like no other. When was the last time people got together to mourn the loss of bus routes? My first thought might be....never?!?! But then again, who knows? It might have been done elsewhere. But anyway, a group of about three dozen people held a funeral procession down Washington Avenue Friday night to mourn Metro. It was tongue-in-cheek, it was sidewalk theatrics, it was outrageous and over-the-top. And if you live in the city you might think it was wonderful. Why? Because some people are getting out and showing they care about this city and what happens to it. You may disagree with funding for public transportation but give these folks their due when it comes to passion (and creativity, to say the least). One of the "mourners" talked about a new breed of young people in the city. Perhaps some would say you don't even have to be young, just bring the energy to the city. And ideas. 1 CommentsLeave a comment |

Bless their hearts! We NEED Metro Transit. Economic development is being severally damaged by our failure to support Metro Transit. Maybe these young people will revitalize and grow our community in ways we didn't realize were possible.
