St. Louis Police Chief Dan Isom says he's going to continue to make it clear that under his leadership the department is "fully committed to uncovering and thoroughly inestigatng improprieties or any appearance of improprieties" by the people in his department. The latest? A former police officer who retired and was most recently working as a civilian employee at the department is accused of ripping off money. But what may make this especially...ironic?...sad?...disgraceful...? is that the association he's accused of stealing from is the St. Louis Police Officers' Memorial Breakfast Association. It puts on an annual breakfast each May that honors the St. Louis police officers who have been killed in the line of duty. All 160 officers dating back to 1861. A group to honor the dead. A group that honors those who have sacrificed. This apparently isn't a one-time lack of judgement. This was going on over a five year period. |
