Remember when Jim Morrison and The Doors sang, "People Are Strange"?

I was thinking about those lyrics the other day.

I covered the rally at the Archgrounds last week with the National Socialist Movement. The NSM is the largest neo-nazi organization in the United States. About 100 nazis gathered to rally on the Archgrounds. Dozens of people came out to protest their appearance. The day consisted mainly of insults hurled back and forth between the two sides.

So on the one hand you have the nazis. The "haters" as many people called them because of their views on African Americans, Asians, Hispanics, homosexuals, etc. etc. On the other side, you have those who hate the haters. Those who came out to stand up to the nazis who would oppress the groups I just mentioned.

Among the insults that were hurled back and forth was one word that stood out. Both sides were yelling the word, "FAGGOT!" at the other side. No, it wasn't everyone who opposed the nazis, but there were several people who used the word.

All I could think was..."Huh?!?!"

Let's pause here and put it on rewind. Step back and look at this.

The word "faggot" originally meant a bundle of sticks. I'm pretty doggone sure that's not the meaning they intended here. They were using it as a derogatory term for a homosexual.

So...in some people's minds I suppose that means they believe they could come down to the Archgrounds and cherry-pick the groups they wish to support in opposition to the nazis. They yell at the nazis about targeting immigrants and minorities but it's okay to then yell the word "faggot" at them...?

Jim Morrison and Robby Krieger were right.

The whole neo-nazi movement is a complete joke. We civilized people should have not even entertaind ignorant groups like this who feel they are superior to other races. Any educated person knows the differences between any human being is the melanoma in their bodies and their environment. No race black, white, asian, green, yellow, etc...is superior to another. Rip the skin off any man and you and that is just what you get a man. Ignorance is what is fueling the world right now and by not even showing up to protest this event would eventually lead to the end of it. Everyone wants to belong to some type of movemnt like this to say they belong to something becasue they are too weak minded to stand on their own two feet and believe in what is truly right and not be followers.

I agree- these groups are ignorant and should not be given the least bit of attention. But still- we all do this- the ignorance of the Nazis is similar to the ignorance of the Republicans and the Democrats. All 3 groups simply spew their beliefs based on their narrow-minded views- and immediately discount anything the other side supports.
