It was almost like being at a reading of the will of a rich relative you didn't know you had.... and being left out of the will. Well, almost left out. Mo-Dot funnels 164 million dollars of the kazillion dollar stimulus package. The city is getting just 5 million, compared to 71 million for St. Louis County, for example. And 3.8 of that is already allocated for the project.
Slay has no control over Mo-Dot and any extra money he would get would come from one of the 4 surrounding counties' allocations so he doesn't have many options. Still, he says he's not done with this issue. There's been a feeling for a long time in St. Louis that Jefferson City focuses more on rural areas than urban ones. This does little to dissuade that impression.
