The story of the missing $27,000 is certainly one that catches the attention of most people simply because of the amount of money involved. But it's important to point out here why the money was in the safe.
That money had been raised by the students at DeSmet as part of Mission Week, when money is collected for missions mostly in Honduras and in Belize. In times like these, for these students to raise that kind of money is just remarkable.
Let's hope police track down what happened and the efforts of the students are rewarded.

You tell where the money came from, not "WHY?" it was in the safe instead of a bank.

Also, there is the question of why it took so long to report it missing.
