| UPDATE on Pfizer shooting investigation »
It's 7pm Thursday night and I'm camped in a live van outside St. John's Mercy Medical Center. I've been here since around 3:30pm. Why? Because around noon today a woman doing contract work at Pfizer was shot in the foot and was rushed here. She's going to be okay and we would love to talk to her about what happened. However neither the police or hospital will give us her name. Why?... This woman who suffered quite a psychological and physical trauma would like some privacy and does not want to talk to the media. In fact, a hospital spokesperson (who's very nice and understands what we do) told me if the woman does leave the hospital, she won't come out where we are because she doesn't want to be on TV at all. Neither does her family. You may be wondering, "what is Mark and his colleague still doing outside the hospital?" Here's why journalists = optimists. Even though we've been told there's no chance we're going to be able to talk with this traumatized woman or even see her, we're hanging out here just in case. I'll be reporting on this "live" at 10pm tonight. Watch how I magically spend 30 seconds or so telling you "the victim is in satisfactory condition." Oh and here's some more insight. Since we don't have her name, the hospital won't even be able to confirm for us if and when the woman leaves the hospital. For all I know, she's already left. See you at 10! |
