Kirkwood police are hoping to return more than $1,500 someone apparently dropped on the floor at the Fastrak on Big Bend Boulevard near Geyer Road over the weekend.

A cashier saw the money by the entrance. A Metro bus driver in the store who saw it at the same time handed it to the cashier. The store hung on to it for a day assuming someone would come right back for it, but no one did, so now the police have it.

I can't imagine ever carrying that kind of cash around. And if I did have that kind of money on me, I'd be holding on tight.

I wonder if it could be "dirty" money and that's why no one's claimed it. Police believe it could be someone who lives out of town that just happened to stop in and perhaps still doesn't realize they're missing the money.

Whoever claims it better know how much money it is, what the denominations are and what the money was being carried in. Police will investigate any claims they deem bogus.
