| Metro Fare Prices Going Up... How Does STL Compare? »
In an effort to "investigate" some of the fun, inexpensive things to do in St. Louis New Year's Eve, I found a brand new karaoke bar that actually opens for the first time New Year's Eve. There are three reasons I like this place. First... the name... URMom's. It's pronounced "Your Mom's." When I asked co-owner Scott Crosby why it's called URMom's, he said it's so when people ask you where you went last night or where you're going tonight, you can say, URMom's. The second reason I like this place is it's "smoke-free." Scott says he did his research that showed this is really something the 21 to 30-something crowd wants. The third cool thing about it which is really the reason the place exists, is "live-band karaoke." Scott says his is the first club in the area where you can get up on stage, sing your song and have a live band performing (and even singing back-up) behind you. I'm a fan of creativity and innovative thinking and this new place sounds like it offers both. I hope it does well. It's in the Koken Art Factory building at 2500 Ohio Avenue. |
