The average American would probably say Anthony Francis has had a full life.

At age 81, he's lived beyond the average life expectancy for men.

But 81 is nothing compared with his father, George of Sacramento.

He's the reason Anthony Francis was in the news this weekend.

George Francis, his son says, was born on June 6, 1896 in New Orleans.

That made him America's oldest living man.

Sadly, he died on Saturday.

His age: 112 years and 204 days, according to Dr. Stephen Coles, a UCLA gerontologist who keeps track of this data.

His son, Anthony, says his father was married only once. His spouse, Josephine Johnson Francis, died in 1964 at the age of 63.

Coles says the oldest living person in the world is Maria de Jesus of Portugal, who is 115 years and 109 days old, the AP reported.
