I covered a Veterans Day ceremony this morning. I talked to four veterans and asked them their thoughts on some issues of the day. I didn't realize until after it was over and everyone had left that I forgot to tell each of them "thank you" for their service to our country. I usually try to do that any time I meet a veteran regardless of what day it is. So since I didn't say it to their faces, I'll say it here. Thanks. 2 CommentsLeave a comment |

I am very disappointed at the lack of announcements about the veterans
parade. The lack of parade watchers was a direct result of lack of
press by all local networks. What a shame that a 1.5 hour parade with
airplanes, tanks etc.went virtually unnoticed and unsupported by
St.Louis citizens.Mayor Slay wants people to visit downtown st.
louis. He passed up a golden opportunity to advertise the city.

I keep watching these stories that are done on veterans or veterans day and it perplexes me that we seem to miss the issue at hand.
The VA does not want to help veterans in the slightest the paperwork and time it takes to get benefits is overwhelming to put it lightly.
I have been waiting on disability from my operation back in dec of 2007 and have had 3 operations since then I am broke and about to lose my home and now i have been tolf i need another compensation and pension exam before they can make a decision on my claim from dec of 07
If you really want to do a story find out why it takes a veteran so long to get his disability
If we truly care about veterans we will see stories highlighting the difficult process it takes for a veterans to get help that the 38 CFR says is their for the asking but the regional office uses the excuse of we have a backlog thats why it takes so long for you to get help.
Meanwhile the veterans suffers from the wounds he has and has no money cause of the wounds he cant work this scenario is played out daily with every veteran.
