Most of us are looking at ways to save money these days,and St. Louis County is no different. County Executive Charlie Dooley told me something that made me think. He said (paraphrase, here) that people think St. Louis County has plenty of money, but it doesn't. I guess I was among those who thought that - to a certain extent. Of course, there are municipalities in the county who struggle... but when I think of budget woes, STL Co. isn't foremost in my mind. Now, it isn't on the brink of disaster, but if we're not shopping as much - sales tax is reduced. The foreclosure market isn't helping property taxes any. And just think about the construction industry... revenue from building permits is down, too. I guess we are all in this together!
