If you look at history of the United States, there seems to be a trend that when the economy slumps, crime goes up. No one is saying that is what is happening in the metro, but it's a topic that I found out many people in city government and law enforcement are paying close attention too. The issue in St. Louis is money. There are some who say the city needs more police officers but given the current budget the city can not afford them. So, now leaders are asking residents to help them keep an eye out for illegal activity by looking out for neighbors. What do you think about the economy and crime? Does it really goes up when the economy slows down? What about the city of St. Louis' plan to have residents help out, any thoughts? |
