For those who enjoy history as I do, I wanted to pass along a few notes on Vandalia's Capitol Building.
The building was built in 1836 and was the state capitol until 1839. Abraham Lincoln did start his political career in the building when he served as a state legislator and earning $4 a day for his service.
Ironically, it was Lincoln who also spearheaded the effort to move the state capital from Vandalia to Springfield in 1839.
