Students who cut class in Pine Lawn will be taken into police custody. That's no joke, starting Thursday officers will take students found on the streets during school hours and place them inside a new Truancy center that is located in the Pine Lawn police department. School districts struggle each year to find ways to keep some students in the classroom. However, those students will not be able to hide. Officers are now searching for those who ditch school. Some are calling this the right move, bold, and innovative. I think this system will have success. Imagine if you are a teenage boy or girl cutting class, and an officer picks you up and takes you to the police department. I think this will open some students eyes as they pass right by a jail cell while they are on their way to a truancy center.
