Rambling Thoughts

11:05 PM Mon, Aug 18, 2008 |

This weekend I was one of the 15 thousand or so people who hopped on a bike in the middle of the night here in St. Louis. In fact the annual event called the Moonlight Ramble is really one of the great events in St. Louis.
Now over forty years old, the ramble is held on the August Saturday that features a full moon. And Saturday seemed perfect, with cool weather and clear skies as we crusied from downtown to the north and then central west end and into Forest Park and back downtown. It's a great way to see the city in a different way, a slow pace taking in the neighborhoods and striking up conversations along the way.
I didn't finish until 3am, and by the last mile along Market I was feeling tired, but I made up for the lost sleep on Sunday. The chance to "ride the night" as they say was too much fun and something I'm looking forward to next year.
