The people in the office building at I-270 and Tesson Ferry deserve alot of credit for going through what they did.
I wonder if many of us realize how even a small incident can make being in an office building and incredible ordeal. In this case they had to give up their clothes, be showered in a private tent and then leave in a white jumpsuit.
But there is one bit of good news for them. Now that the powder ha...

Saturday I bought a "non-iron" shirt at a department store. It proved a revelation in the chutzpah used in modern advertising.
A non-iron shirt seemed like an economical and environmentally-friendly purchase. The shirt was 75% off. And I wouldn't have to shell out a $1.50 every time I got it laundered. And there was the green appeal: fewer miles logged to the dry cleaners.
I did note the phrasing on the package. I...

Finally, after three years of talking, wondering and looking at the empty lot that was once the old Busch Stadium, the ballpark village will now be built, in some form.
Just talking with fans outside the stadium tonight, they all agree something had to be done. Many said they were walking several blocks to get dinner. Some even suggested if development was not possible with the state of the economy, then at least a park would...

I've learned just how big an issue credit cards are right now. Gas stations are complaining that more money from gas sales is going to the credit cards companies than to the stations selling the gas. The stations say the problem is the credit card companies charge a percentage fee rather than a flat fee for a gallon of gas. So, when gas was a buck a gallon, the credit card companies got about 2.5 cents a gallon. Now, with gas at almost $4 ...

The terrible accident along I-64 that left two people dead has now become an opportunity for the Highway Patrol to remind drivers about being distracted while on the road.
Police have blamed a truck driver for being inattentive as the cause of the multi vehicle crash.
You certainly don't have to be on the road long to see some of the things drivers do while driving such as using a cell phone, texting, reading...

Flooding does damage to businesses even when the water never reaches a building. Business owners are finding this out in Alton and surrounding communities. The president of the Alton Regional Convention and Visitors Bureau tells me that downtown Alton businesses never shut down during the floods. But there is a perception that much of the area was devestated by high waters because the Great River Road was closed for 10 days. Alton is kicking...

SOULARD - It's not a done deal.
Belgium-based InBev has raised its "firm" offer of 65 dollars a share to 70, and that has reportedly prompted top Anheuser-Busch executives to negotiate a sale of the St. Louis-based beer giant. Total cost: nearly 50 billion dollars.
But everything I've been reading and hearing is that it's not a done deal. Various things could happen and cause the talks to break down.

When Darlene Green wants to know what is going on, she picks up the phone, calls the
owners of the Baseball Cardinals and gets an immediate response.
And Green tells me , that is exactly what she did, when the Wall Street Journal quotes
DeWitt about a park on that land. It is a quote which is sparking new reaction about
whether we will ever see a Ballpark Village. And the pressure is on to make sure -- w...
