My low tech experience with high definition television is less than stellar. I don't have cable TV or satellite and I don't have a high definition set. So I bought a converter box for my old set. I've used a rabbit ears antenna for years (I live in the Central West End). The reception hadn't been that great for some stations. But at least I could get a picture and audio at all times! With digital, though, it's all or nothing. I now have either a great, sharp picture and clear audio...or one or both disappear--most often it's annoying chrips and then the audio is just gone. Terrible when it's the punchline of a joke. It seems to be worst during the daylight hours. I've only had the converter box for a week, but I'm thinking about going with the good old analog signals until they go dark next year. |
