With gas at about $3.79 a gallon for regular, drivers lined up at a downtown Fuelman that had yet to raise its prices Wednesdday evening. Fuelman was still at $3.61. Drivers told me they're consolidating trips to the grocery store and bank and cutting back on other expenditures to pay the higher gas prices. But the night before I was shocked to learn the price of gas is even impacting church attendance. Pastor Patricia Vollertsen of Grace United Church of Christ in South St. Louis told me some in her congregation who live far from the church--Ballwin, Imperial--have actually cut back on visits to church. Wow! |
