A popular tavern in South St. Louis goes smoke free. The owner of the Royale, Steven Smith, tells news four that he's always wanted to do it, but felt like he would loose too much business if he tried. Smith says a questionnaire filled out by his customers prompted him to put away the ashtrays. He determined that 6 percent of his customers did not want him to ban smoking, while 2 percent said if he did ban it they would be less likely to return. The tavern official stopped allowing people to smoke indoors in April 1st. Smith says surprisingly in the last few weeks his sales went up 30 percent. What do you think? |
