In East St. Louis today detectives spent the day investigating why a 17 year old boy, allegedly shot his godfather several times. Neighbors and friends of the boy have identified him for News 4, we also have a picture of the teenager, but at this time we will not disclose the detailed informations because prosecutors have yet to file any charges against the teenager.

A lot of questions are swirling around the neighborhood in the 2900 block of Market. Several people are baffled as to why a teenager, who seemingly had a good relationship with his godfather, 42 year old Craig Triplett, would allegedly just shoot him?

While police questioned the boy this afternoon, they still have yet to answer that question. They did tell us though that they've talked to the boy's mother and for the last five years she says her son's lived with his godfather in east st. louis.
