One Man's Village

9:51 PM Wed, Jan 09, 2008 |

The state law loophole that is enabling one man in Franklin County to try and form his own village has only been on the books for less than a year, and it cleared the way for the creation of the village of Table Rock in southwest Missouri.
The loophole allows for 15 percent of the property owners in the proposed village to petition to put the measure on the ballot.
Franklin County is now dealing with two proposed villages now, with the other one in the established subdivision of Lake St. Clair.
However, anyone looking to incorporate should move quick. The state legislature is working this week to close the loophole.
